Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

Clearly she should get over it.

Reminds me of how ashamed I felt about processing my grandmother's death (we were pretty close) even though I knew for about a year before she passed that she didn't have much time left. Seven years later, I still feel this very empty hole that will never be filled, whenever I think about her. Having some of her sentimental keepsakes to remind me of her has not filled the hole; putting those keepsakes in a box and "forgetting" about them has not filled the hole.

Now imagine that for a similarly sensitive person like Tilly, but multiplied across all the people she cared about (who aren't also DIS crew).

That's a tidal wave waiting to happen.

I too have "sentimental" keepsakes from both my Mom and my Paternal Grandma.
(the only one I knew).
But I have them out on display in my house to remind me every day of their love for me.

I don't need that kind of hole filled, because I rejoice in my memories of both of them on a daily basis.

That's a nice way of grieving. I might go dig her sentimentals out of their box. Thank you for your perspective!

Having Discovery on CBS was the right move. My father noticed that it's on there now. He said "They have Star Trek on tonight!" He thought it was a movie. I asked him, "Does it have Kirk or Picard in it?" He said no. So I said, "It isn't a movie, it's the first season of Star Trek: Discovery. It's the new show." Then we talked about it for a bit. I talked up the third season. I said, "The jump 1,000 years into the future." He seems interested.

EDIT: I stand corrected. It's Star Trek Beyond that's airing tonight. Ehhh. Well, at least I still talked up Discovery.

Yes, I know, I'm a Discovery Fan who isn't super into the Abrams Films. We exist. :p

We certainly do! I liked them, especially the 2009.

Indeed, yes. And it pains me that such things are being regarded as questionable emotionality in some fan circles. :weep:

I would chalk up most of those "Fans" as not yet having such an emotional experience in what is probably their young lives.

To paraphrase what has often been said before ... "With Age Comes Emotional WIsdom".

I watched a video about the making of that horrible James Spader sci-fi movie Supernova and holy crap, Wilson Cruz was the character the ship AI fell in love with!

There's definitely a story there. Decedents of Starfleet people set up as gods on some primitive planet or something. Yep.
It seems like being part of Starfleet would be optional now for a captain and plenty captains of surviving ships would went out on their own

According to this week's Ready Room, Neville Page (one of the makeup artists on Discovery) does call Michael Westmore (Makeup artist on most of the TNG Era shows and Enterprise) every once and while to get his opinion on makeup he's doing for Discovery, and ask questions.
