Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

Well if that other show on Disney can use one for good effect why not? AR walls are very cool tech.

I must admit to dark thoughts when the computer was all chirpy and said "come to the shuttlebay for a surprise" I was half expecting she'd lower the forcefield and they'd all be spaced.
Remains to be seen, so far Season 3 of Discovery and it's location work looks a lot better than Mando.

I've already explained all this before, go look it up. You're incorrect, It's a very reliable source and their methodology is listed.

Now, aside from that... Even if I were to take your comment seriously (and I don't), since when were Neilson's based on how many liked or disliked an episode!!?? Are you telling me tng had 10 million viewers but only 7 million counted because 30% hated it?? See how dumb that sounds? That never happens.

I don't know what you are talking about. I've never said anything about Nielsen ratings. You are making s* up.
Stop putting words in my mouth.
You know what sounds dumb? Equating Nielsen ratings with Parrot Analytics' demand expressions.
Parrot Analytics explicitly states that they are measuring "audience demand", Nielsen measures viewership.

Watching a Voyager episode called 'Live Fast and Prosper". In miners are using dilithium to run their facility. So dilithium is used in places other than starships. The Burn probably impacted planet based facilities as well.

The bad Star Trek cosplay in the episode gave me a chuckle.

I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by the pacing of season 3 episodes. I have frequently complained in this forum that during the first 2 seasons Discovery was a little too fast paced (obviously not every episode but many of them), too much like the JJTrek movies. Lower Decks is worse, being even more hectic, but Picard was great. I felt Discovery would benefit by slowing the pace down, with less fast paced action scenes and more character moments.

So far I am getting that from season 3 which I am liking more than the first two. Some credit has to go to new co-showrunner Michelle Paradise who has talked about focusing more on characters. And the JJTrek alumnus Kurtzman must have learned a thing or two from seeing the great Michael Chabon's work on Picard.

No. As soon as they have footage, they start editing. It's a long process.

They just started filming in November, like about a week ago. They won't wrap until the middle of '21.
Some post-production like the visual effects will have also started, and those sequences need editing too.

Wow dude ...
You obviously need to go back and reread and understand what RAMA said.
He wasn't "putting words in your mouth"...
He was making a Comparison, which apparently went right over your head.

Maybe after you actually have an inkling of what was said, you can come back and be just a tad bit less aggressive when someone disagrees with you and shows good cause.

I don't really have anywhere else to say this and I know it is the trend at the moment, but I really dislike the cuts every second or two in action scenes.

I wouldn't blame Disco for that a lot of shows now do that. It's just an in thing and it's annoying.

Semi-related to Discovery, but Pinewood Toronto is issuing a press release at 8 AM announcing expansion plans. (5 new sound stages will be built bringing the total number of sound stages to 16). Discovery already shoots there. It's assumed that SNW and Section 31 will be shooting at CBS Studios Canada, but it's possible that one of those or unannounced future Star Trek shows will also be filmed at Pinewood.

I feel like the show is really starting to find its feet over the past few episodes so I look forward to seeing what else they've got in store for us.

Same! The first couple of episodes had some plot-device "clocks" but particularly in the latest episode, there was no formal clock, just a "we need this right now" kind of thing. The pacing of this season is much, better, overall.
