Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

See what Habs Fan said.

Why do you keep resisting any explanation for anything? It seems as if you're not interested in giving the series any type of benefit of the doubt at all. You're too quick to say "It doesn't work". As a Disco Fan, I'd think you'd want to figure out a way to make it work, and then only say it doesn't work as a last resort instead of a first resort. Personally, if I say something doesn't work, it's because I exhausted all the other alternatives first.

Besides that: geometry. 51,000 light years from wherever the Enterprise is can lead to anywhere. It doesn't have to be Terralysium at all. It just has to be 51,000 light years away and in the Beta Quadrant. Spock has faith that wherever they located the signal, it was from Discovery. And faith is one of the themes of the season, so it's a fitting way to end it.

Liking something doesn't mean that you stop acknowledging its flaws.

I wasn't aware that liking something meant constantly point out flaws either...

....

This is the difference between a wine connoisseur who likes wine and is capable of describing its qualities good or bad and someone who likes wine because it makes him drunk.

Star Trek has survived fifty-five years being picked apart by fans, Discovery will be okay too.

It's not so much Discovery being picked apart. It just seems weird to the degree he's doing it, with his username.

It would be like me constantly picking apart third season TOS at every opportunity and trying to fight back any defense of it. Which, given the source of my username, wouldn't make much sense either.

Too be fair, TOS has been around for fifty-five years while Discovery is new and fresh in people’s minds. I think people taking the time to pick it apart is far more encouraging than when praise is heaped on it.

I'll believe it when I see it. Yes, I know, it's been all before and will be again. It's just highly fatiguing when people who claim to love it tear it down.

The original Star Trek is my favorite TV show ever, and I have shredded it on more than one occasion.

The difference is that I believe that TOS is your favorite show and see it coming from a place of love. I don't see that with DSC.

When, the character is supposed to be mad, right?

GIVE ME GENESIS

The movie era Klingons were great. Fight me.
Christopher Lloyd and his crew annoyed me. Felt very one dimensional.

I love TUC Klingons. Don't mistake my annoyance at Lloyd and his crew as irritation at all Movie Era Klingons. Gorkon, Chang, Azebur and Colonel Worf are among my favorite Klingons ever.

No fighting. Just some blood wine.

They pretty much were. Renegade Klingons with one goal in mind; capturing the Federation's secret military weapon, Project Genesis.

Lloyd was probably the only actor capable of taking bites out of the scenery as much as Shatner, which is part of the reason I enjoyed it so much.

Imagine those Klingons in Discovery :p

Why not? There is room in Discovery for many types of Klingons. That's why I like them so much.

This is the first time I've heard "one dimensional" championed as a good thing. Again, DSC Klingons interest me more than just "more power!!!!!!!!!!!" of Lloyd's crew.

Doesn't make it a bad performance per se, but I'm not engaged. Clearly, you are. So, enjoy

Christopher Lloyd is a great actor in his own right and he can turn to gold even the crappiest of roles. For example, I find him hysterical in "Taxi".

I like the third season a lot... but something just occured to me. If I ever go on a rampage and actually did trash it totally, completely, and at every turn... I'd have the perfect alibi. I'd be able to plead insanity. ;)

I never implied otherwise. I just don't buy him as a Klingon 100%. I certainly don't like him speaking Klingon, no matter how much he gesticulates and shoots crew members.
