Is anybody else seeing my post as the top one (David B Dornburg)?
I don't think I've ever had the privilege (misfortune?) of having a post stay at the top after several days.
(or is that the way Yt works and I just never noticed before?)

Scrolling a little ways through, didn't see you at all...

In preparation for the eventual Picard Series, I'm going to try re-watching TNG again. This would inevitably result in me throwing up my hands in disgust if I start from Season 1. I tried that three times before and each time I gave up. So I'm not going to do that.

Instead, I'm starting from Season 2. Let's see how far I can make it before stopping. If I can make it all the way to "All Good Things" without skipping anything, I'll have surprised myself.

I'm a 23rd Century Person heading into a 24th Century Universe. Wish me luck.

I’m enjoying the extra character development of the bridge crew we’re getting in season 2, I just wish they’d take a bit more of a logical approach to it. Airiam is next in command after Saru, I would have liked to see her developed into a strong and definite character by now. I guess I’m looking for a solid bridge ensemble ala TOS - Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Chekhov, Sulu (plus McCoy and Scotty) - a TEAM that works as a team, rather than Pike and Burnham out front all the time.

I know it’s getting there, I just hope they develop Airiam and even Saru more soon, given that they hold leadership positions

It weirds me out, beyond belief, that TNG S2 is 30 years old. Doesn't feel like it. It's strange. When I was 9 actually feels like 30 years ago. But when it happened to be, 1988-1989, doesn't. If that makes any type sense at all (and I know it doesn't). On another note...

Good point. I never thought about who the Second Officer is. I automatically assumed it would be Burnham, but that couldn't have been the case in S1, and Ariam is a Lieutenant Commander, so Ariam being third-in-command makes sense... but if I didn't think about it, then a lot of other people probably didn't either. So it would have to be pointed out in an episode.

I would like them to tell us what the hell Ariam is. I know the novel says but they always ignore that, thinking that their idea is better.

She’s a mechanically augmented humanoid
Also Airiam isn’t in any of the novels yet.

And it’s not that they’re thinking their ideas are better, it’s the fact they’re not beholden to the books.

New rumor on Yt that the show had been cancelled.
Not sure what they are going on about but it apparently has something to do with a Tweet by Anson Mount.

Oh never mind.

He tweeted that he's not liking unemployment at the moment.
But was talking about being done with Season Two filming.

As usual, some folks blew it waaay the Hell outta proportion and then took off at a race cars pace with it.

Having just watched two TNG episodes, I can see why those who believe this is the definitive version of Star Trek wouldn't like DSC. The approaches to Star Trek could not be more different.

I thought and still think TNG is sterile and antiseptic. Even when the crew is in the face of or copes with death. Picard's an intellectual and I can appreciate that. But the stories he's in are mostly more time-killing than anything that actually gets me excited. This is where the idea of Patrick Stewart elevating material comes from. Hopefully he doesn't have to elevate as much in the Picard Series.

I just picked it up from the fact that on several occasions in S1 Saru would leave the bridge and hand over the conn to Airiam

Hopefully we find out more about her

She's an android, isn't she?
Most likely some kind of human or alien cyborg.

Airiam's nature has been subject to a number of divergent background statements. StarTrek.com described Airiam as being a "synthetic-Human hybrid", while Ted Sullivan tweeted that she was an alien. Meanwhile After Trek: "Episode 3" described her species as "augmented alien", while After Trek: "Episode 5", involving Gretchen J. Berg, Neville Page, and Glenn Hetrick called her instead an "augmented Human".

So she's a "Synthetically Augmented Human/Alien Hybrid"

Huuumnn...

I know...
... Her Mom was a Test-Tube Baby from Bolia, and Dad was The Six-Billion Dollar Man.

My lasting memory of the Original Six-Million Dollar Man is this...

Needless to say, as a Kid I thought it was gripping...

When I got older, and realized that it was that shows "Jump the Shark" moment, I laughed and rolled my eyes at how silly it was, but I still have fond memories of watching it.
:techman:

It’s funny how big Bigfoot (sorry) was in the mid-70s. I remember actually learning about them in elementary school. Maybe the teachers’ intent was along the lines of how modern myths can form or something, but my fourth grade brain remembers it more like they were teaching us about real creatures.

I think they're gradually tip-toeing around, showing the Enterprise one step at a time. First they show the exterior. Then a little of the interior. Next time the Enterprise appears, I think they should just rip the band-aid off.

Number One on the bridge.

Well we know there was a bridge set built according to an instagram post, and there is a redesigned Captain's Chair n the opening credits, so it seems very likely we will see the bridge eventually.

But I have a feeling it won't be until late in the season.
