I have (to me) very curious issue with a keyboard I bought a while back this year. I purchased a Corsair K70 RGB PRO keyboard and it works fine but only with the cable it came with in the box. But if I tried another cable that is slightly longer that has the same connector for the keyboard end and the PC end it won't work and is dead.

So I'm wondering now what's so special about the included cable. It's just regular USB one end and USB C on the other

Could it be that it's only a charge cable vs data?

(Not had it with USB-C, but I have with older usb ones which would provide power only)

There's no battery in this keyboard. Nothing like that at all. I watched a youtube where they did use a fancy blue custom cable with this keyboard but for whatever reason it fails to work with anything other than what is in the box. I tried another 2 meter long braided cable with the same connectors.

No USB cable is the same especially when it's USB C you've got pure data cables so they don't charge, some are non data which only can charge and some are both and then there are fancy schmancy ones have a chip which communicates with the USB ports to synchronize what data speed is supported and which class of power they can transmit, you need to figure out what kind is shipped with your

That's part of the reason why Type-C ports are considered a "Nightmare" today.
