Gary Graham 1950-2024

Larry Nemecek last night on Trek Files on Youtube had a former security guard sharing stories about Gary Graham and filming the episode in a Mirror darkly had some really interesting stories about the filming of the Soval shows with Jeffrey combs. And I'm glad they talked about his Enterprise shows last night.

Point proved, I guess. And I was actually referring to the very much alive Dwight Schultz in my post.
Since you are belaboring the point, let me be perfectly clear: discussing contemporary politics regarding anyone is inappropriate in this forum. It is particularly so, and profoundly disrespectful, to denigrate the views of a person who has suddenly passed away and has grieving family members who are still in shock.

Thanks for the heads-up, I enjoyed listening to those on-set stories :)

I only just now came across this news. VALE Gary Graham. I loved Soval, one of my all time favourite characters. One of my first avatars on this site was Soval. I have an Ambassador Soval page on fb and I remember Gary interacted with the good Ambassador a few times, though I can't see his comments now, perhaps he deleted his fb at some point.

He was fantastic as Soval, truly IMO the best Vulcan portrayal outside of TOS's Sarek. A great contribution to Star Trek.

I tried the Alien Nation film but I wasn't a big fan. I wonder if the series might be better or is it about the same. I still have strong memories of that show being advertised on Channel Ten when I was a little kid, along with the In the Heat of the Night TV series and the original episodes of Law and Order. I was always impressed by Alien Nation getting multiple films after it got cancelled. Like how many shows get one season and that happens?

Apparently he died suddenly from cardiac arrest which is why his passing seemed very sudden and almost untimely.

The TV version of "Alien Nation" was leagues better than the film. Kenneth Johnson filled out the culture of the Newcomers, George's family, Matt Sikes' backstory, and made them much richer. Production values were first-rate, and the music was really cool. The strength of the show, IMHO, was the character interaction, especially the chemistry between Gary Graham and Eric Pierpoint, who were both perfectly cast. I could've watched that show forever, and it was a shock that it was cancelled, with the last show of the season a cliffhanger; the showrunners thought it had good enough ratings to continue. The fans lobbied loudly for more, and thankfully those five TV movies were eventually made, wrapping up the cliffhanger and developing Sikes' relationship with Cathy (which I shipped hard). The series and movies are on DVD, a totally different and wonderfully entertaining look at Gary and Eric's work.

Here is a nice obituary from The Hollywood Reporter that gives more info on Gary's life and career.

To be honest, I remember being really jazzed about him appearing in Prelude to Axanar. I thought that was a neat way to tie the actual prequel series into that particular fanfilm's slightly less prequelness, doing that whole Star Trek cameo of a guy from a previous series in the new series, like Cochrane turning up in "Broken Bow." And that's all I have to say about that.

How great was it that when he did Mirror-Soval he did the whole Vulcan goatee thing? And he got an Enterprise jumpsuit! That character was so beat down, I really felt sorry for the bloke.
