Gary Graham 1950-2024

^ Yeah, his political beliefs were definitely messed up, but I always thought he was great as Soval. He brought a lot of gravitas to the character and it was obvious why they kept bringing him back to the show.

May he rest in peace.

That’s a kind of dodgy site. What‘s with the weird placeholders in the text, for example: “Gary Graham was born on [Date, Year] in [Place of Birth].” :vulcan:

Oh man, that's really sad news. I really liked his performance as Soval in Enterprise, and was a big reason why I liked the Vulcans so much from that show. I also like his star trek song that is used on the Shuttlepod Show (and the story behind how he got the convention music gig!)
I will watch a Kir'Shara episode this evening.

He was a good dude. I thought Soval was a great addition to Enterprise and a good foil for Archer, T'Pol and Shran. RIP.

I've got to be honest and say I found some of his personal and political views pretty appalling

"Contributing" to the infamous Breibart raises some red flags, but like with Dwight Schultz going off the deep end in recent years, separate the art from the artist (and dying at 73, while no means young, seems disappointing these days).

This probably isn’t the thread for this but, you’re right, it is important to separate art from artist without getting all bent out of shape about it. It’s something we’ve lost, I think. I guess I wouldn’t see eye to eye on a few issues with Schultz by the sounds of it but, hypothetically, I should be able to sit and chat about things with him without getting angry. It’s a strange new world alright.

Sorry I posted about this when the news was already here in this thread. I'm really shocked that he passed away yesterday. I liked Soval's character in the 3 part Vulcan arc. And when he guest starred in Jag.

Virtual Trek com is doing a show about Gary Graham to talk about his life and his career.

You're right, this is not the place to bash a dead man for his beliefs. Please go to TNZ or Misc for political opinionating, if you must.

Let's stick to celebrating Gary's accomplishments and talent and his contributions to sci-fi and Star Trek, and wish his family and his daughter peace and good memories.

Point proved, I guess. And I was actually referring to the very much alive Dwight Schultz in my post.

I just found out about his death. I am sad to hear about his demise. I am a fan of his acting.

I really liked how he played Soval as an unlikeable Vulcan in Enterpise in the beginning to much more human friendly vulcan at the end of the series.

May he rest in peace.
