Nobody here knows anything about what Wang did or did not do compared to other actors. They just repeat McNiell.

I'm just curious - since it's sorta related in that Beltran had not-so-glowing things to say about Voyager either...but what has happened to him? Does he even act anymore or was Voyager his one thing and he just sorta gave up after that???

And yes, this interview is from 2004. The start of the article says "In 2004, Modamag.com published a lenghty interview with Garrett Wang, Star Trek: Voyager's Ensign Harry Kim."
Considering that UPN all but sat on his head and told him to shape up an arc or ship out, I'd say no. There were a few things that were a bit edgier than other Treks (Losing a fourth of the crew in one attack, Archer and Co. stealing the warp core from an innocent species), but there was so much that could have--and should have!!Kitty Worrier said:

^^^ Garrett Wang may be likable, because he happens to be quite sociable, especially at conventions.
But sociable and likable does not necessarily translate into "responsible" when all things are said and done.

It's my understanding that the producers made Wang sweat over a full hiatus, for slippage into "unprofessional" behaviours, by them giving Harry Kim the Species 8472 virus. Had Wang not performed well, he would be killed off. It worked, and Harry lived.
