Garak vs. Obrien, who is Bashirs best friend?

Yeah, that's probably true. I'm not even sure if, canonically speaking, we even know DS9's normal crew complement.

And while Bashir may have been the only doctor when Starfleet first moved in, they could always have added more medical staff later.
Didn't they add a lot of Bajoran nurses and assistants?

And by the way, wasn't Kukalaka Bashir's absolute best friend?

Not gonna lie, I thought of this thread when I watched the newest episodes of Lower Decks tonight.

Don't click if you don't want to be spoiled for episode 5x09 …

Yes, I knew some people will be celebrating. I am too, althought for a diffrent pairing mentioned in that episode (since only one half of it appeared on screen).

Althought this is a kind of story that just asks for Kes to appear in... I guess it was technically impossible, but still...

also, this episode mentions the first universe where Trip Ticker did not die an untimely death (Twighlight, E2 and TATV all had him die untimely... here he had a long,l happy life married to T'Pol. 63 years sounds like eternity for a Star Trek couple).

@BohandiAnsoid, please be mindful of posting spoilers for an episode that just aired two days ago. Usually the policy here is to at least wait six months before posting without spoiler code. :)

As for the Lower Decks episode … I liked how they didn’t just make it a blink and you’ll miss it throwaway joke, but actually dedicated an entire B-plot to Bashir and Garak and their marital interactions.

No!
But it helped me to make a decision to add Lower Decks on the list of series I'm not gonna watch.
Oh yeah, it happened! Sorry it's now fact! I honestly don't think you like Star Trek as much as you think you do.

I like all Star Trek made before 2000.

I dislike the rest, especially what is made in the dystopian 2020's.

I know, but, how is that relevant to the discussion?
This is not "our" Bashir and "our" Garak. Otherwise, you have to say that Trip/T'Pol having a long, happy marriage together is cxanon as well.

And there are FAR worse pairings than Garak/Bashir out there. Pairings that are disturbingly popular.

The only one I can recall offhand was Jabara although there were probably others as well.

She was the most commonly occuring named one, appearing in four episodes in the first three seasons and referenced in two novels set later FWIW.

Two further Bajoran named nurses, Hortak and Tagana, appeared in The Abandoned and The Muse respectively (the latter by regular stunt/minor character actress Patricia Tallman), and a Starfleet nurse, Ensign Bandee, appeared on-screen in Inquisition and was referenced as present on the station in Extreme Measures and What You Leave Behind.

Several other unnamed Starfleet medical/science officers and half-a-dozen or so Bajoran nurses/medical assistants appeared at various points.
