besides gandalf was looking pretty scared when the witch king knocked him off his horse (literally) and broke his magic staff....then a mere mortal woman was able to kill him(witch king).

Yoda is, despite all his power, a mortal....he literally dies of old age.

Gandalf is essentially an Angel that has descended into human form for the sake of interacting with us.

Now, Gandalf has *major* restrictions on the USE of his powers, that Yoda technically does not have....obviously, he is restrained from fighting in anger, he doesn't like using force lightening (just redirecting it) etc. etc.

but again: Yoda is just a "person", albeit a really enlightened one. Gandalf isn't really the same as us, though he does like us.

yeah, if gandalf has restrictions placed on his powers that he isnt allowed to overrule then it doesnt matter what his true nature his, he still walks around like a mortal and can be killed, so, he'll just keep coming back and yoda will just keep killing him until yoda finally dies of old age in about 900 years.

we're thinking to much on this one...When I mean a fight between the two, I mean a fight between the two...none of this restriction stuff...Just a pure fight with none of their silly 'edicts' getting in the way...lets say someone has possessed their bodies and now the two are fighting...who wins

If there's no restrictions, it's Gandalf hands down, IMO. Yoda doesn't have anywhere near the potential power he does.

Yoda is a powerful Jedi Master, but he's still just a mortal creature. Gandalf is of a race of beings analogous to the angels, with vast powers and abilities.

Gandalf wins. Even as Gandalf the Grey.

Also, Gandalf "in his prime" would be Olórin, his true form/persona who would be unencumbered by the limited human body in which Gandalf resided. Yoda's screwed no matter what.

Since I have no idea what you are talking about I'll agree with what you're talking about...kind of like Stephen Hawkin talking..just roll with it is what I do...

Rob

what he said was... yoda senses the force... gandalf created it....

okay since there are no restrictions to the use of power then i still say yoda and here's why. we havent seen anyone in the star wars universe who has used the full potential of the force. the jedi dont becaue they restrict themselves because they are scared of going to the dark side and the sith really dont eaither because they focus solely on the dark side. the force basically is everything. Its in everything and creates everything..potential being unlimited. if it were possible for a person to use the full power of the force with no restrictions then they'd be gods.

Formidable mortal vs. force of supernature.

It's no contest: Gandalf swats him like a flea.
