Is the Hound dead though? We just saw him in a really pitiful condition, but he's hardly dead. He's also clearly not the type to rely on suicide, at least not from what I've seen of his personality.

He is left the same way in the books, probably dead but possibly not. I suspect we haven't seen the last of him.

He appeared to have a compound fracture of his femur. The bone was sticking out of his leg. He's going to bleed out or die in short order of an infection. He's also a sitting duck for animals and bandits since he's immobile. It'd be straining plausibility, to say the least, if he comes out of that alive.

On a TV show in which skeletons come out of the earth and attack children....and one in which fire breathing dragons exist .. where children are mind readers and can see through animals eyes .... and one in which in a later episode a major character literally comes back form the dead....

I'd imagine we haven't seen the last of him.

Given it's Game of Thrones and GRRM i believe he's dead. Martin never was one for shocker comebacks of assumed dead people (even if we don't see all deaths ourselves).

Syrio Forel is for all intents and purposes dead and so is the Mountain (one can assume).

It is a harsh world and people in his books have died from far less. The whole scene was a big goodbye for Clegane too and a major character stepping stone for Arya so it has served its purpose (much like Khal Drogo's only stoy purpose was to harden the timid Daenarys and set her on the path to become a queen).

I've read the books, so it doesn't really affect me but I suspect a few people who haven't might disagree with you. I think it's just more considerate to err on the side of caution or use the spoiler codes.

One thing I loved was the way Varis begins to walk down the dock, hears the bells and realizes what it means, turns around and sits down next to the Tyrion crate

All unspoken, his whole life turned upside down in a moment.
As soon as that I happened I was like "YES! Varys/Tyrion super team!"

I loved it. LOADS of stuff happened and I had no fucking idea that Tywin would get it. I never saw that happening. I will miss Charles Dance in the part, but glad that Tyrion got to get some sort of revenge.

Also sad to see Rory McGann as the Hound go. Loved him in the part from the start and he's been great the last season. I agree that his death/fate is a stepping stone for Arya, but some part of me wished he would have gotten a merciful death. Poor guy suffered so much trough his life, even though he was a shit at times.

AND THE ************* MOUNTAIN IS NOT DEAD! Just...fucking die.

Other than that small nitpick, great episode.

Agreed! Thank you!
Especially since there's already been a character on the show who's come back from the dead, so there was no need for him to say that another one will in a later episode to make his point.

It seems a bunch of the characters are all on their way to Braavos now. You have Arya sailing over with the merchants to meet up with Jaqen. Tyrion and Varys fleeing Kings Landing. I'm guessing Jorah Mormont would probably be heading that way as well to either get a ship back to Westeros or just hit up some bars to drown his sorrows. It's like a dream team forming.... or yet another country is gonna go up in flames when all them whacks get together

The Justice league of Braavos!

A great finale to a great season. Here's where things get tricky. They've lost some of their best characters and the source material gets a lot weaker, but I think they're going to be pretty ruthless in cutting things down and reworking the material for the fifth season. Hopefully they get it right.

Now that this season is ended I went ahead and read the synopses of the next two published books. They sound terribly boring. It sounds like absolutely nothing interesting happens aside from the few things they already showed this season. My interest in this series was steadily growing this season and I was really getting into the show... but I don't think I'm going to care for the next two seasons at all now...
They'll probably be done with books four and five by the end of the fifth season.

I'm not sure I see any evidence within the books to say that
Lady Stoneheart is in any way a necessary inclusion into the show. They could easily leave her out and miss nothing. And that quote linked to earlier makes me feel like they don't like the idea of her, because you would think that the possibility of including her in the finale would have at least been thrown around. I have a hard time believing it never came up. And if it didn't come up, it seems reasonable to speculate that the reason it didn't is because they've ruled out that plot line ages ago. They know what's important and what isn't, because Martin has told them.

I don't think
Lady Stoneheart
will add anything to the series and I don't think
Michelle will want come back to the show to play a mute zombie.

Guys, this isn't a spoiler thread beyond this episode. Please be more careful and edit out or spoiler code anything that gives away potential spoilers for the next season.
