Spoilers Game Of Thrones’ Spinoff ‘House Of The Dragons’ ordered to series

If they ever did the Conquest of Westeros by Aegon the Conqueror, then i would want Aegon to be modeled on Alexander the Great. The arrogance, the fury, the inspiration.

Congratulations to "House of the Dragon" for its Golden Globes win. This makes up for the Paddy Considine snub.

https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/...n-season-2-potential-release-date-whens-it-on

No mention of the WGA and SAG strike at all but it is safe to assume you can kiss the projected 2024 release date goodbye as production should be going on right now to make that date. I figure it'll be sometime 2025 now depending on when the strike is resolved.

Was reading a piece the other that it's peformers are are under Equity (U.K) so they're still in production but the writers are in the WGA so there's no changing to any of the scripts in during filming.

I watched S1 earlier this year; it was my first exposure to Westeros. My initial reaction was pretty positive; I wrote at the time that I quite enjoyed it, despite uneven pacing, abrupt time jumps, extensive web of characters, and lack of wholly sympathetic protagonists.

I did have some major plot gripes, mainly relating to how key deaths were seemingly quickly and easily forgotten (and I know some of these are due to changes from the book). Such as: what happened to that noble's (correct) accusation that Daemon murdered his own wife? How the hell did Ser Criston escape banishment, if not indeed outright execution, for his murder of Ser Laenor Velaryon's "friend" at the feast? Couldn't Rhaenyra have found someone with an appropriate skin tone to have biological children with? And, why oh why, in episode 8, after seeing how much the Hightowers had changed the culture of Red Keep while Viserys was still (barely) alive, did Rhaenyra and Daemon leave King's Landing at all? The reason they went there in the first place was to shore up Rhaenyra's claim to her sons' inheritance, and she was sure that Alicent, speaking for the king, would rule against her. After winning that close call, what did they think would happen if Viserys were to die while they were away? (I know Rhaenyra said she'd be back in just a few days, after dropping the kids off back at Driftmark, but still - not a great plan.)

I concluded that, due to these and other weird bits, the show sometimes seemed almost amateurishly written, but that the performances, visuals, and most importantly themes were so grand and weighty that they either overpower the weakness in the storytelling, or maybe they just overpowered me.

Well, now that some time has passed, I'm afraid my memory of the show isn't as kind as my initial reactions. The baffling story points, generally unlikeable characters, drab visuals, and all-around dearth of excitement add up to a series I'm not particularly interested in revisiting. I've still yet to give GoT a try, but I'm hoping it's more fun.

Anyhow, Season Two teaser, whoop whoop. :p

Book spoilers
The war only lasted 2 years in the book lore. I wonder how they'll spread it out
If I remember correctly the show is only supposed to go 3, maybe 4, seasons. That said, we're at the point book-wise where I completely check out. The show has been vastly superior thus far, so I'll give it a chance, but I'm not exactly excited about the show returning soon.

With the shorter episode count per season. We only have 8 episodes per season going forward. I imagine they’ll stretch things out to 4 seasons.

We know the Battle of Rooks Rest will happen in episode 4 of season 2. Season 2 will also have the Dragon Seeds attempting to tame their dragons.

I imagine season 2 will end with Rhaenyra and Daemon taking the throne and Kings Landing.

My guess is Season 3 will cover the bulk of Rhaenyra’s disastrous reign. The war, the taxes, the betrayals by the Dragon Seeds and small folk discontent.

Season 4 will likely be the downfall of House Targaryen. The uprising by the small folk in King’s Landing, the death of the dragons, Rhaenrya abandoning the throne, Rhaenyra and Aegon II dying, the hour of the Wolf and the new dragon-less status quo of House Targaryen. With Rhaenyra and Daemon’s son Aegon III (The Younger) being crowned king and wed to Aegon II’s (The Elder) last child, Jahaera. With members of the famous houses we know from GOT all being positioned as regents to the boy king.

Hmm, I think

you're compressing things too much there. I think if Rooks Rest is episode 4 of Season 2, we'll have the Battle of the Gullet as the end of Season 2. Including the burning of High Tide and the sacking of Spicetown. Will it be too much of a repeat to have Season Two end with Jace's death like Season 1 ended with Luc's? Maybe... or maybe the parallelism will just make it hit harder.

Start Season 3 with introducing Daeron and Tessarion, and the Winter Wolves, Have the taking of Kings' Landing be the mid-point of Season 3, and the Butcher's Ball be the penultimate episode... but then First Tumbleton and the betrayal of the Dragonseeds to actually end the Season, alternating with showing Rhaenyra's disastrous reign.

Season 4 I think will cover Rhaenyra's later realm and downfall, and will end with Rhaenyra's death and maybe 2nd Tumbleton. It'll be 5 seasons long, with Aegeon II dying and Aegon III being crowned in the fourth episode of Season 5 followed in the same episode by Cregan Stark arriving, and the Hour of the Wolf and the aftermath finishing out Season 5 and the show.

Sorry for coming to this late, but I think for me the weakest aspects this time around were in the set design and lighting. Promotional articles were selling the series as more lavish to reflect the earlier era of Westeros, but to me it didn't really feel like it. It mostly felt rather drab and unatmospheric, a complete contrast to how everything looked in the main series. Sets also looked much smaller, less grand.
