Spoilers Game Of Thrones’ Spinoff ‘House Of The Dragons’ ordered to series

Despite being on team black, i have to agree with Vaemond Velaryon. He was totally right. Too bad for speaking the truth, he lost his life just like Ned Stark.

King Viserys was overall a good man and he tried to be a good king but it is often not easy for a good man to be king.
I cried at the scene when he forces himself, despite great ill health, to come to the throne room and give his unbridled love and support to his child. Daemon despite being a rogue and a killer, clearly loves his brother.

Aemond will certainly be a major player for the Greens without doubt. Perhaps their MVP but he lacks Daemon's experience. Aegon needs to get his act together. Alicent misunderstanding the dying Visery's last words, will certainly make things worse now. Her advisors like Otto Hightower and Larys Strong will not help matters. Ser Criston Cole is also another bad influence on her.

I actually like Alicent but the people she surrounds herself with are just terrible people. That being said, Rhaenyra has Daemon on her side.

Yeah, I actually do agree with Vaemond's claim. He is Corlyn's brother right and pure Velaryon? He makes more sense as the successor and Lord of the Tides than Luke who is just a boy and not of pure Velaryon blood.

But unfortunately, being right or speaking truth does not really matter in the game of thrones. He spoke forbidden words. You just don't call the king's grandchildren bastards and the king's daughter a whore in a public audience before the king and get away with it.

Yeah, he was a good man but a bad king. I was also moved at the family dinner scene at Viserys' speech, essentially his last words and will before he died. And it was nice to see Alicent and Rhaenerys sort of reconcile with kind words to each other and for a short time, it seemed the family was happy with laughter and smiles. But sadly, it did not last because as soon as the king left, the feud restarted.

Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke both bring their A game and have taken full ownership of the characters - any concerns over the cast changes should be settled by now.

It caught me in the feels when they revealed Daemon at his brother's side helping him up.

I didn't have much hope of Viserys doing much of anything after we'd seen what he'd become. But what an effort on his part; with Rhaenyra's presence stirring him into action, he summoned every last ounce of strength and determination he possessed for one last stand - a decisive show of support for his daughter and a final call for peace amongst his splintered family. Of course, it had to go tits up at the end.

This show has been a wonderful surprise. It hasn't produced a single dud (ymmv) - and I can tell you my expectations were pretty damn subdued after the disappointment of GoT S8.

At the dinner scene he was shown the only chance that might have prevented a civil war after his death when he watched Jacaerys dance with Haelena. If he had been willing to make a decision and support Rhaenyra's offer to betroth Jacaerys to Haelena and have them rule jointly then the two opposing branches of the family would have been united and that might have led to peace, no matter which hair colour Rhaenyra's sons had.And you could tell that he realized that right there and then.
But that would have upset Allicent, and Viserys was the type of person who didn't want to make anybody upset.

In the books there's supposed to be three years between the Velaryon succession crisis and the death of Viserys, but this episode made it seem like it happened the next day.

I can work with it happening immediately afterward, but I will say (not an important spoiler) that Rhaenyra and Daemon's two sons need to be a bit older than toddlers by the end of the war.

Haelena was already married to Aegon - hence her references to how being married isn't "all bad" and that "he mostly leaves you alone." Also when Alicent confronts Aegon about being a rapist she refers to how he brings shame on his wife.

The proposed betrothals were arranged between Rhaenyra and Rhaenys for Jacaerys/Lucarys to marry Baela/Rhaena - uniting Laenor's (officially, and Rhaenyra's) kids with Laena's (and Daemon's) and thus strengthening the Velaryons (and the unspoken-by-all part was that it would put a "true" Velaryon on the Driftwood Throne). Viserys approved of these arrangements.

What we see Jacaerys doing in dancing with Haelena was either showing appreciative kindness or (likely both) rubbing his friendliness in Aegon's face by dancing with his wife

I'm talking about the event in Episode 6 when Rhaenyra offered to marry Jacaerys to Halaena (and have them be co-regents) and to give Aemond a dragon egg form the next batch as a further incentive, remember?
If at that point Viserys had made the decision to accept that proposal, then the families owuld have been united, but it would have upset Alicent, so Viserys allowed the proposal to be ignored, have Allicent handle the matchmaking for their kids (poorly, since neither of them have gained lands in the marriage) and with so lost the the best chance for peace.
And when the two were dancing and getting along great, Viserys realized the mistake he made those years ago.

His passiveness in things like that seems to be Viserys' big character flaw. His reign was overall relatively peaceful and prosperous because he delegated to trusted and skilled advisors but he failed every chance to ensure a peaceful succession.

Aemond looking to follow in his uncle's footsteps. Both are the young brothers of the crown prince/king. Both are considered the most dangerous men in Westeros. Both are fiercely loyal to their family; their elder brother in particular. Both should never be allowed anywhere near the throne.

Ahhh right right.

It's absolutely uncanny the similarities, and the casting/styling playing that up is perfect.

I found another parallel between Daemon and Aemond.

Daemon watching Rhaenyra dance with Ser Laenor and Ser Harwin and Aemond watching Helaena dance with Jace.

You can just feel the envy radiating off of both Daemon and Aemond. Neither dance and both are having a tough time watching the girl they have feelings for have fun with someone else. Daemon who made an offer for Rhaenyra's hand in episode 4 but was rejected by the king. Aemond who wishes it was he who was betrothed to his sister Helaena by their mother. As Aegon has been preoccupied chasing every maiden skirt he sees since hitting puberty. Leaving his wife alone to herself most of the time.

In the books there's a third son of Viserys and Alicent (Daeron). It's unclear if he exists or not in the show. He's supposed to be away training to be a Maester while all this is going on, but they haven't even mentioned his existence to date.

Shame, because he's by far the least shit of their kids.

I think they actually mentioned him in a tweet or something, that he's off studying.
They might handle him like they did with characters like Stannis in the old show, bring them only in once they are plot relevant.

Also...he might be the least "shit" of their sons, but there's still Haelena too. She isn't a shithead, just odd.
