Galaxy Quest was silly fun! I loved it. But I love Trek too!
Why, oh why are people putting Generations above First Contact?
He did watch it, and joke about it.GalaxyQuest could've bombed in so many ways but it didn't. I love the movie and I hope that Shatner himself watched it and maybe learned a thing or two from it.
http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/community/chat/archive/transcript/1086.htmlWilliam Shatner said:I thought it was very funny, and I thought the audience that they portrayed was totally real, but the actors that they were pretending to be were totally unrecognizable. Certainly I don't know what Tim Allen was doing. He seemed to be the head of a group of actors and for the life of me I was trying to understand who he was imitating. The only one I recognized was the girl playing Nichelle Nichols.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galaxy_Quest#cite_note-8
Galaxy Quest is better than every Trek movie save I, II, XI and maybe FC. (Imao.)
I agree with both of you. I always list Galaxy Quest as one of the Trek films. It fits in really well. GQ dares to laugh at and with Trek and its fans without being disrespectful to either.Galaxy Quest is one of the three best Trek films made - the other two being TWOK and the Abrams version.
Please read the post..I never mentioned that it was a Paramount film..only that Paramount didn't have the nuts to try a Trek film like it..Paramount was not involved.

Galaxy Quest isn't a Trek film. It is a parody of the behind the scenes and fandom of the show, loosely based on a Joan Winston short story. That's where the similarities end. Comparing this to other Trek films and insisiting such is like comparing apples to a couch.
