Galavant, Second Season

Though I wouldn't mind a third season involving Gareth and Sid's attempt to save Madalena from herself. Maybe Richard, Bobbi, and Tad Cooper could join them?

Just an idea.

And, of course, Galavant and Isabella would have to come out of retirement to help them. :D

Nah, King Richard had more of a story arc this season than Galavant and they kept the name of the show.

That's true, he was kind of a guest star in his own show. But at least he was in it. :rommie:

Finally watched the finale. Very well done. Not on a re-watch list of any real kind, but this season was highly entertaining and funny on all sorts of levels. The self-referential humour was great, and Tad Cooper (is that someone we should know?) had a great payoff.

Yes, it's interesting that the star of the show this year was Richard, and Galavant was basically a secondary charcater whose arc was really an excuse for Richard to galavant around discovering himself. A third season will thus have Maddy as the central focus (and why not, she's got the best voice of the lot bar Richard imo) and redeem her by the end.

Except for them potentially running out of catchy melodies by the end (the Grease numbers were the most direct ripoffs - unless it was meant to REALLY be that close and not just an inspiration), the music was really fun. I'd like to see more non-Disney material from these guys.

Like Isabella, I had thought that Galavant was his first name!

"Hi Gary!"
I'd always assumed he just had the one name, Galavant.
Yup, that was a great finish. Pretty much what I expected (except that Richard went after Roberta, Roberta didn't come back for Richard). If we don't get another season, everybody is in a good place: Galavant and Isabella are living happily ever after, Richard and Roberta are ruling the kingdom, Tad Cooper has grown up, and Gareth is pretty much the new Galavant, going to look for his lady love with Sid by his side. I hope Sid doesn't kill him. Of all the original characters, only Madalena hasn't been redeemed, which is kind of the one thing that makes it feel unfinished. But, all in all, a wonderful show with a wonderful conclusion.
I don't really see Madalena needing the be redeemed, she's pretty much the only character who's been really, consistently bad for pretty much the whole series. Richard was the villain of Season 1, but he was always more of a doofus and not really a true bad guy.
I loved the finale, I thought they did a great job of tying everything up, and giving everyone a happy ending. I loved the end bit with Tad Cooper. Even though Madalena's ending was a set up for Season 3, in a way it was also a happy ending for her, she's now on her way to becoming one of the most powerful people in the world, which is clearly something she's always wanted.

Yeah, but she was pretty quick to turn her back on Galavant once Richard came into the picture. I've always kind of figured she was only with Galavant because he was a famous hero, and once a king came into the picture, the hero wasn't good enough.

If we do get a third season, I wonder if we'll get to actually see Tad Cooper? I know we got jokes about their small budget, but they did have a fair amount of extras in this one, and they've had some fairly complex sets and big name guest stars so they must have a fairly decent budget.

It's not that Madalena needs to be redeemed, it's just that she's the odd man out because she wasn't.

If there's a 3rd season, maybe they'll just keep Tad Cooper off screen, like Spot in The Munsters. :rommie:

That bit at the end also has me concerned for Agent Carter. I wonder if the fact that they are short, mid-season fillers gives them a better chance of surviving?

That's true. All they really have to do is win their time slot. But I think it's safe to say that both Galavant and Agent Carter are gone, unless they move to streaming services.
