Gal Gadot cast as Wonder Woman In ‘Batman Vs. Superman’

Wonder Woman did not grow up a Feminist because she lived on an island with no men for 2000 years. There is no contrast. If anything she was probably a masculinist because she dreamed and craved to know more about "Man's World".

How simple do you need to get? Are people nowadays that stupid?! The animated feature needed about a minute of screentime to cover the clay origin, Paul Dini and Alex Ross did a two-page spread on WW's and the Amazons' complete origin, with one panel with one or two sentences of captions being enough to cover the "made from clay, given life by the gods" part. I know, "daughter of Zeus" is three words, but do we really need to get that simple?!
...
Well, as for familiarity with characters created from inanimate material, how about Pinocchio? Everyone knows him and accepts his origin. And Data, for that matter.
...
I can't remember that instance. I remember Ares calling Hyppolita his daughter
...
I guess we disagree on the degree with which a change in details becomes a major change.

I agree to that. The following is just to clarify my previous remarks.

Perhaps 'simple' is the wrong word. I was thinking more of 'accessable'. I'm perfectly okay with her pre52 origin. I suspect DC to make the change to make her origin more simliar to other Greek heroes to be more accessable/simple for the movie going audience. While Pinocchio is very well known, his story did not originate from Greek mythology, which is the connection they might be going for. The story of Pygmalion and Galatea (Aphrodite bring statue to life) is not widely known. Also, Data never became flesh and blood.

One of the few reasons I am fine with the change was because the fact the came from clay never factored much into her character. I don't remember any story where she questions her humanity since she was never human, only a product of clay and magic. Superman's alien origin did factor in some story lines, like in the TV series Smallville. I believe Diana being raised in Paradise Island and her powers is a product of the Olympic Gods are

Mixing genres can be tricky. Adding fantasy elements in sci-fi movies vice versa can turn the audience off. That's probably why they made Thor into an alien. Ancient people worshipped him as a god. He still refer to himself as a god. I agree too many changes, or changes to a character's core is very bad.

Also, I meant Hades hinted he's is Diana's father. Sorry I typed 'Ares'. He could still be lying though.

I understand we like our characters and don't want to see them get ruined. And we want their films to have a good box office return, so Hollywood will make more of them.

Also, I wouldn't mind if James Cameron directs a Wonder Woman film. He made good, strong female leads in some of his movies.

IGN posted an update to their story about a woman directing the WW to include this list of directors they're interested from Forbes
IGG said:
According to Forbes, the list includes Catherine Hardwick (Twilight, Red Riding Hood), Mimi Leder (Deep Impact, The Leftovers), Julie Taymor (The Tempest, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark), Karyn Kusama (Aeon Flux, Jennifer's Body), Emmy winner Michelle MacLaren (Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead), Tricia Brock (The Walking Dead, Community), and Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker).

It's sexist to think that a man can't do this job or is not allowed to do this job.

That being said it would be a dick move for a bloke to take this job.

That being said only an idiot would turn down the money and the opportunity.

"Sigh"

Michelle MacLaren should get this job, hands down. It's a crime she hasn't helmed an action movie yet.

(though to be fair I don't know if she's been offered any yet)

Though obviously if Kathryn Bigelow was actually interested, she'd probably be the choice. Can't fault them for that.

As long as Wonder Woman is wearing a traditional T&A outfit, and not some all concealing, politically correct, Anita Sarkeesian approved "new 52" bullshit, I don't care what her origin is.

We've already seen her outfit.

Can we go back in time too? When Men were MEN and women knew their place? Wow. What sexist bullshit you like to shovel. (Remember folks, gamer gate is about ETHICS in journals, really!)

JD, I can totally dig that outfit.

Nigel Tufnel: What's wrong with being sexy?
Ian: Sexist! Sex-IST!!!

Ummmm.....yeah, the fictional character of Wonder Woman knew her place. Her place was to go to Man's World (as the Themyscirans liked to call it) and empower women, and promote equality, and kick a lot of ass while doing it. That she looked damn sexy and fine while doing it is a major bonus. :)

How tight is the Flash's costume?

Do you think Zoom and Barry try to out tight each other?

When their suits are made out of speedforce, it might as well be body paint, right?

Actually if friction really was an issue, and they had difficulty giving the boy clothes that wouldn't catch fire, body paint would make a good compromise.

This is the New 52 costume.

Not sure why you mentioned in your comment as it's T&A components are quite evident.

My mix up, I guess... :guffaw:
Somehow, I could've sworn it was the pantsuit and jacket that was the "new 52" outfit.

Yes, I'm familiar with this one as her new outfit, but I thought this was the tread against the "new 52".

Comics really do tend to branch out more than they probably should for the casual reader. :) (Not enough time in my life to read every single iteration of any comic book. :) )

It looks almost like her abs are shaped into a 14 pack.

I find the choker collar weird.

What's the origin of those things?

I feel it's probably the great grand child of a dog collar.

I think WW hasn't had a pantsuit as a costume since the 70s. Bike shorts, short shorts, thongs, skirts, armor and tights, but no pantsuits.

There's currently maybe one guy in the thread who's anti-52.

;)
