"G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra" trailer released

I think that actually looks kinda' great. :)

Just realized, G.I.Joe is headed by the logos for Paramount and Spyglass, while the Transformers trailer is headed by the logos for Dreamworks and Paramount.

Both have Paramount. Is that just distribution? If Paramount had theatrical rights to the characters of both...could there be a possibility of a G.I. Joe/Transformers movie?

That would kick all kinds of ass.

My biggest beef is that over the years The Powers That Be have moved away from the principle at the heart the whole G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero line of toys: That it was supposed to be based on REAL American military hardware. The comics themselves (initially) had that in mind. These were real American soldiers with real American hardware, but the cream of the crop in their specialties. In other words, the Joe Team was supposed to be where Green Berets go when they want to be "special".

I wish they had stuck with that mindset. Instead it went too far into the Sci Fi realm.

I feel like I saw a different video from the rest of you. That looks like ass. Fantastic Four ass. Fake CG people jumping around on fake CG cars like they have superpowers. This has always and continues to look like a complete failure of vision.

I'm not saying it needs to be like the cartoon, but I am saying that a summer action romp about army soldiers should have more soldiers and tanks and less black leather and weak CG stunts.

Another mindless summer popcorn-flick rendition of an otherwise fine 1980s animated series. What next, a Thunder Cats movie?

Actually a CGI ThunderCats movie is in the works

G.I. Joe was Shakespeare?
Of course it was! Like that episode where they killed a gigantic blob by firing tons of apples into it. I mean, Hamlet's got nothing on that.

I dunno I think my favorite might have been the one where the rotating restaurant is sent into space by Cobra and I kind of forget the rest of the plot... I think the people at the party were being held hostage and cobra had planted bombs on it. So the GI Joe guy who was a navy seal goes out into space in some kind of jury-rigged space-suit and uses a six-pack of soda as thrusters...

Don't get more pro then that :techman:
:p

Full screen 1080 it looks pretty slick. Appears they're wearing power armor when they're hopping through the streets. Snake Eyes is the only one to pull off impossible shit all on his own. Has an underwater base (DESTRO), fleet of minisubs, a VTOL gunship that looks like a cross between the Aliens dropship and an Osprey, and a hangar full of the things (JOE base). Dual-wield pistols for Baroness and two troopers of some sort with what look like prototype Destro masks. And the requisite evil metal-eating superweapon of doom.

And Rachel Nichols. With red hair. She can rape my childhood anyday.

The trailer actually looked pretty cool. Still not too thrilled about the international heroes bit though lol
