"G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra" trailer released

I can't for James Cameron to return to remind us all what an action film is. Too much settling for mediocrity.

People, you apparently have not heard me. It has a Wayans brother in it. IT's doomed for failure!

lol...okay that was the last time

What, this seems like a natural progression of a resume -- Dungeons and Dragons, White Chicks, Little Man, Norbit, G.I. Joe!

Does he get any credit for being in Requiem for a Dream?

To me, it's not the "international thing" that is a major obstacle to this flick's success. Maybe American fans are more sensitive to it. But to me, it's basically "everything else".

I can understand the fan's complaints to a degree, as it's a valid that GI Joe is a uniquely American term, but it doesn't bother me in the slightest. The team always included some foreign members and the cartoon and toy line enjoyed success abroad under a different name, so all they're doing is trying to be more inclusive to those foreign markets. It's good business sense because, despite all the apparent complaints here, the amount of people who aren't going to see this because of the change from a US to an international team probably isn't even going to be remotely close to the number of foreign viewers who are more likely to go see it now.

And really, what's changed that's so significant because of that decision? They're still being lead by an American, and the bulk of the team is still American. What, is the fact that Heavy Duty is now Mr. Eko mean he's not going to have the same profound depth of character to an American as he's fulfilling his role of firing large machine guns?

Looking forward to this in a massive way. I'm an 80's kid and after interest in Transformers waned (by '87) I was all about G.I. Joe.

I'm so glad they've got Hawk in there. He outranked Duke but got none of the glory in the show. Finally, paybacks. ;)

stretched page much?

i'm going to say what i said elsewhere: as yet, we don't know how much of an international flavour the Joes have. sure, Heavy Duty is played by an African-Brit, Snake Eyes by a Brit, Cover Girl by a Czech and Breaker by a French-Arab, but, Snake Eyes is apparently still an all-American character and we don't know how much the actors' ethnicity and nationality are playing into their characters. If Cover Girl is Hawk's aide (as was reported, (is she the blonde when Hawk says 'Make the call'?)) she maybe an American character, still as a US Army soldier. HD and Breaker could be French or Morroccan or British, or they could be Americans. we simply don't know.

personally, I'll be happy to see the movie irrespective of a Brit's presence on the team, but if HD is British, then Yay. i always thought Cobra must've been operating outside of America if they're really 'a ruthless terrorist organisation bent on world domination'. or were they planning on starting with America and then conquering everyone else after?

I don't know what all the fuss is. I was a huge fan of the show and comic, and though they were a real American hero, they always had diverse nationalities on the team, even an Native American

I know. There are so many other problems than if they're American or if Marlon Wayans, who's a good actor, is in it.

Have you guys seen the screenshots above? The costumer designer should be banned from Hollywood. Snakes Eyes is wearing a rubber abs suit...and cargo pants. :guffaw:

And he has a black rubber mouth on his helmet. Why did they need a mouth on a character that doesn't speak and didn't have a mouth in animated form? I think Sommers watched two episodes of G.I.Joe Sigma Six and went with it.

Breaker looks like Hugh from "I, Borg."

Scarlett is wearing thigh-high boots to fight terrorists and looks more like the actual Baroness than the Sienna Miller Baroness. I love Sienna Miller. She's way hot. But the Baroness should be the voluptuous, deadly librarian type.

The rest look like either the soldiers from the "Doom" movie or "Doomsday" movie.

I noticed this watching the trailer. Thank God I'm positive this isn't the final render. Looks like someone cut out some tiny magazine pictures and glued them to this background. Worst...CGI...since the people on the deck of the Titanic. C'mon! It's been ten friggin' years!

Hahahahahaha, okay you got me there man. I didn't know about Dungeons and Dragons.

RAMA, those images are all a meg and a half each. In the future, please post larger images as links, rather than inline.

Eh? Snake Eyes looks great and very consistent with recent version of his outfit.

No more so than an Apache pilot does.

They just gave him a little heads-up display over one eye to coordinate data for the team.

It's odd that you'd complain about Baroness and Snake Eyes which are the two characters that are closest to their comic versions (at least the more recent incarnations). Baroness is missing the on-again, off-again Cobra symbol, but it's not exactly a bright idea to paint a big red target on your chest, is it? And I think Sienna Miller is just fine in the endowment department, not that it's easy to live up to the rather gravity-defying physiology of comic book characters.
