I think the future uniform designs are just awful. Nothing works, from the fabric (which looks like it should be used to make window dressings) to the collar to the high-waisted pants. I also dislike the fact that the uniform tops are completely red/yellow/blue. They're just too bright. One thing I love about the current 24th century uniform is how the departmental colors are on the turtleneck, and the rest of the uniform is gray and black. Much classier.

Sure. Makes a lot of sense that you have to run up to someone and stare at their neck before you know what department they're in.

I think they should make everybody wear spandex and highheels, as Blalock and Ryan had to do, even in fight scenes...

I have no desire to see someone like Riker in spandex and heels!

Agreed. Although I don't like the material used in the FC uniforms, I do like the look. The colored undershirt looks unbearably hot, as does the grey shoulder material.
I'm not a big fan of the Voyager one-piece overalls, but the material was lightweight and appeared comfortable for daily use.

I always felt sorry for the actors in instances like DS9's "Rocks and Shoals" when it was clearly unbelievably hot outside, but they still had to run around in thick, long-sleeved uniforms. Maybe the explanation is that Starfleet makes them out of some material that is perfectly cool in hot environments and perfectly warm in cold ones...but I don't think the actors feel the same way.

While the Endgame and AGT future unis look very "old peopleish" to you and me (hello pants up past your belly button), nobody knows what future fashion is gonna be. Keep in mind if you look at British military uniforms from the American Revolution, theyre dressed in bright red and the officers wear ridiculous white wigs. Looks absolutely retarded by our modern standards, but back in that time it was the pinnacle of power and a symbol of authority and respect.

I look at all the Trek uniforms over the years and some of them are cringeworthy by our standards of today. I mean, could you imagine going from present day Navy uniforms to the tight yellow shirts of TOS? I cant, but then again, its the future and the future holds all kind of technological wonders which makes devices more compact, uniforms more functional, etc..

I prefer the FC uniforms but with the Endgame commbadges (Like Capt LaForge was wearing). I also liked the Relativity's crew uniforms too.

But them's fightin' clothes! Never underestimate the destructive power of a spike heel to the eye.

Yay! Somebody actually shares my opinion that the "relatively recent future" uniforms look geriatric.

My major concern with any uniform still is that there are no pockets, it seems that they have to wear an extra accessory, belt, just for their phasers. The exceptions are B'Elanna Torres' pocket protector during the actess' pregnancy in season 4 and Starfleet of the mid 22nd century. I don't now about TOS though since they have communicators, but I forget where it was kept.

I'm probably the ONLY one who holds this opinion: but of the uniforms I saw, I actually found the Enterprise ones the most believable based on historical precedent and functionality.

First off: POCKETS. Seriously, I have no idea why nobody in the 24th century has pockets. Secondly: PATCHES. This is a huge part of Earth cultural heritage. I can see why that would fade out as other military traditions got more involved, but for the time period it's in, the Enterprise uniform is actually what one would expect for a world with "only" 150 years of distance from ours. Last: AIR FORCE influence. It actually looks like a flight suit, which we know is a functional, comfortable design. You can actually imagine people wearing the thing for everyday use.

The future ones look terrible. It's one thing to add makeup to make a character look older, but those pants are just awful. When Barcley was teaching a class on the Borg, I was like WTF?

I like the 29th century uniforms seen in Relativity, particularly the darker department colours.

Command btw is blue for some reason
