Future of Paramount+ among merger talks

:D

Hey now - this is page 47! ;)

The only one who gets Star Trek is me. Unfortunately nobody is offering me the job of showrunner. Maybe I'll send David my resume, even though I have zero television or movie production experience. But I'm still qualified, because I get Star Trek.
Why are you dressed up in a Star Trek uniform? Are you a professional actor?

While the loss of NCIS Hawai'i is unfortunate, that franchise is not in any real danger, given they have two new spinoffs coming, NCIS Origins premiering this fall on CBS and NCIS Europe* due to begin filming this summer and premiering on Paramount+ sometime in 2025. That's in addition to new seasons of OG NCIS and NCIS Sydney coming.

*That's only a working title for that particular spinoff at the moment.
These are silly TV shows. I won’t waste my time on them when I’ve got better things to do like scrimshaw and soap-box derby.

I'm not worried. Movies and Tv shows are in major decline right now. Theaters should be mostly gone in the next 10-20 years. All TV shows eventually will be just mini series with no more than 50-60 episodes. In which case MORE prod I will actually be made. So none of the shows will ever really reach legendary status like what many of us grew up with. Then add Ai in the mix and we are gonna get a bunch of garbage made by a few guys behind a computer. The day of big event films and TV shows are at an end people.
So these companies they can merge all they want. It's not gonna make a lick of difference one way or the other. I'm just glad I lived and experienced the best times in television and film ever. 😎
Thanks for injecting some optimism into this thread.

😂. Sorry. But it's true. The last 3 years since Ai things have moved extremely fast. Before that streaming began to go mainstream about 12 years ago. Both these things have turned the industry on their head. I can totally see the big studios producing a lot of Ai only content eventually. Some People still complain about CGI.....Ai will make people look back on it fondly. CGI was a tool that still took creativity. Ai will take a lot of that creativity away eventually.

I'm not saying that good content won't be created but the days of rushing out with friends on that first day of a big release are essentially over. (Though legacy franchise like Scream still pulls in decent numbers)

I think the last time I had to wait in line to see a movie or buy the ticket in advance before sellout was The Force Awakens. Which makes sense because that was right around when Streaming was almost finished cementing itself into most homes..

I can't think of the last TV show that was on the lips of a good majority of friends and coworkers. Maybe Game of Thrones?? Idk.

Now people get a streaming service for a show or two. Apple for Example Severance and Shrinking.

Hollywood also produces at least twice the content that they did just before streaming took hold. Further spreading out what people watch..the market is literally saturated with new material.

Right - someone new comes in from out of nowhere, guns-a-blazin', constantly harping on how all this is about a "silly TV show" without engaging in any kind of meaningful dialog, and then wonders why people are getting pissed off at the broken record schtick, with the slowly-snowballing visceral responses. Followed by the almost-predictable accusation towards said-people becoming "hostile". Talk about a complete lack of self-awareness.

Let me see if I can summarize the substance of this particular thread of interaction...

TBBS User: "Hi, welcome to the board."

Red Shirt: "This show you watch is silly."

TBBS User: "Ohhh...kay... Do you have anything interesting to contribute to the conversation?"

Red Shirt: "Who cares? All the people who watch this stupid show and talk about it endlessly are dumb."

TBBS User: "Wow... That's kind of rude."

Red Shirt: "DON'T BE SO HOSTILE TO ME!!!" :scream:

Yeah, I think that about covers it... :p
