Legacy was never really a thing anyway. It was just Matalas blowing some smoke up fans' asses, and fans lapping it up.
And Kurtzman publicly acknowledging it as something he wants as well.

Skydance’s offer wasn’t enough. So Bronfman Jr.'s and Bain Capital’s offer, which is about a quarter of what Skydance’s offer, has no chance. They had their chance with Sony and Apollo.
Edgar Bronfman Jr. and Bain Capital are still circling around.
I’m of the belief that Legacy is going to happen. It just hasn’t been announced it yet.
Star Trek: Legacy may still happen (Amazon co-produced Picard).
It's not a matter of which studio he's working for; it's a matter of time. Remember, he's also got that adaption of Enemy Mine he's working on in addition to Vision. That's a hefty schedule for anyone.Nothing’s stopping Matalas from working on both a Disney project and a Paramount project.
And Kurtzman publicly acknowledging it as something he wants as well.
Amazon would also have the PICARD analytics. Plus rumor has it Matalas has a potential project with Amazon Studios. Sure, most likely not Star Trek, but he seems very capable at building positive working relationships with competent executives.Star Trek: Legacy may still happen (Amazon co-produced Picard).
Hope springth eternal. Especially for the series that could save Trek as we know it.It's not a matter of which studio he's working for; it's a matter of time. Remember, he's also got that adaption of Enemy Mine he's working on in addition to Vision. That's a hefty schedule for anyone.
Unfortunately that doesn’t make it any more likely to happen.
Can't say for sure. No time soon, it seems.
Yet I saw Trek die with Nemesis and Enterprise. And here we are.
Who was talking about Star Trek dying? I was talking about Matalas’s pipe dream that fans mistook for an actual thing.
I don’t believe CBS/Paramount ever green lighted this idea even before ‘collapsing.’ As far as I know they never seriously considered Matalas’s suggestion. As a matter of fact, the ONLY thing we’ve heard that’s remotely close to this is Patrick Stewart making some nebulous comment that somebody gave him a script for a new movie about Picard. Which also doesn’t seem to be a thing. The only reason it won't be a thing is that Paramount is collapsing. Kurtzman, the guy in charge of the direction of Star Trek as far as he's allowed to take it with the money he's given, all but said so.
It's more than one man's pipedream with the fans, but there's more keeping it from being made than that.

Not greenlit, no. But certainly seriously discussed.
Kurtzman: “If I had a magic button, a magic ‘greenlight button,’ for Star Trek: Legacy, and it was all on me, I’d push that button today. Right now, it’s beyond my paygrade.”
That’s not ‘seriously discussed.’ That’s just Kurtzman making a nonsequitor.
It’s not a discussion with CBS/Paramount, which is all that matters.Someone discussed it with the guy in charge. That's a discussion.
Hate the idea all you want. I'm Just correcting your falsehood of saying it's only a thing between Matalas and fans. It's at the very least a concept that went higher than that.
It’s not a discussion with CBS/Paramount, which is all that matters.
Says you?
I'll trust Kurtzman saying "beyond my paygrade" (ie, Paramount/CBS) over someone on the internet who doesn't sit in on their conversations basically calling him a liar.
Where, oddly, the only proof of consideration is actual completed results. Where that's not the bar to measure "discussion" in any business venture.
By all means, share your information with us too.I love the certitude and apparent insider information we all have on Paramount's inner workings in future projects.
Three possibilities:Sorry if this has already been addressed, but - should Paramount fold, does anyone think the Trek IP would be allowed to lie fallow ?
Someone (or several someones) gonna pick up the properties and start producing shows again.
