FUTURAMA: Rebirth

There are differences, the death of Eleanor Roosevelt for one. Also, the current universe has bodies of the professor, Fry and Bender buried under a bridge. And finally, the remote used to open the time machines are different in the two universes. There are differences but they don't seem to make a difference right now.

p.s. - This universe has two forward time machines.

Well, I just mean that if you counted up all their canonical deliveries, it would probably come to more than 100, since there are some episodes where they made multiple deliveries or were said to have done so between episodes. I look forward to the inevitable fan tallying of all known Planet Express deliveries. (Although I suppose the Professor's tally here might not have included the Awesome Express period, the PlanEx period, and the period when the Scammer Aliens owned the company. Which were probably the company's most productive times.)

What about the deliveries of the professor's previous crew, the ones who were eaten by the Space Wasp? Though Hermes does say 10 per year, thus 10 years, so I guess the professor is counting from hiring his current crew. Something tells me none of his previous crews lasted to 100.

Nah, I waited till the movie was over and joined all the ranting in the Trek XI forum about parallel universe/time travel. I'm still at it (occasionally).

Current Futurama isn't in a parallel Universe-- they just cycled ahead a couple of times. Continuity is still intact, it just happened a really long time ago.

Maybe they're counting 100 from the point where the crew was fired and then re-hired (I wanna say "Brannigan Begin Again"?)

Considering that in most episodes they don't deliver anything, just 100 deliveries is possible.

Also, Planet Express seems to be the go to company for very dangerous deliveries, so the professor probably charges premium money for each delivery (non of which trickles down to the crew, naturally), which is what's keeping the company afloat.

Pretty good episode again. I loved the dance scene at the end. Futurama has become a feel good show this season.

Overall, I'm glad Futurama returned. It's been kind of hit or miss, but it always was to me. It was one of 4 tv shows I watched all summer (along with True Blood, Entourage, and Pillars of the Earth).

I loved Bender with all the 100 references while everyone else was in the sewer. He was having such a good time it took him a while to realize he was lonely.

And 100 Elvis impersonators who aren't opposed to hooking.

Now that this season is over, I nominate the Scruffy/Washbucket scene as the best of the year.

It was certainly the least expected. I liked Fry stupidly but predictably jumping in the mutant pool just to prove his love for Leela. I guess I'm a romantic.

The gag with Bender holding still with the explosive souffle while everything around him moved was pretty memorable as well. I also liked the split-scene mind-switch-restoring sequence.

No comments on the holiday special? I found all three segments rather weak. I liked the Cheney joke, though (and it's an odd coincidence that there were parodies of Dick Cheney in both The Simpsons and Futurama on the same night). And whoever thought a comedy show would get plot material from the Svalbard Global Seed Vault? (Which really is a real place, though it doesn't have a germ warfare repository next door -- yet.) Still, lacking in execution.

The bit about Al Gore "buying" solar energy was probably the biggest laugh of the episode for me (which isn't saying much). And I know I shouldn't be asking for logic, but if the Earth ran out of petroleum, why not just go to some other planet that still has some?

Not a four star affair but any episode of Futurama is enjoyable for me. I liked that they brought back the space bees. I will say this, the songs weren't very cool. Coolio's rap song sounded horribly stiff and artificial.

Yeah it was ok and had a couple of laughs but wasn't great.
