Had this friend... we knew each other since 1st grade, we went to school together till 8th grade. After that we went to different high schools and further too.
We were best friends at some point (in school I mean), then later our relationship got colder. A few years later we met again and started to recreate the bond between us.
Eventually he left the country and went to Thailand, moved to Bangkok (so far away to Asia) where he started to work as an IT consultant. His real reason for leaving was this "cyber woman" he met online and after years of talking he decided he should meet her and remain there.
Of course if you ask me I don't believe in such relationships, better when you meet someone in real life ....but with him it was different.
The love story didn't last too much and they broke up. Thing was he kinda liked that way of life, the good healthy food from Asia, he kept sending me pictures through WhatsApp showing me those places.
He found himself another girl.... she was kinda hot (of course she was young) - she never had a job, came from an island somewhere near and she stayed with him. She was cooking for him, made him feel good and he was working for both.
A couple of times he brought her home here we met about 3 times....
He kept inviting me there..... the flight is kinda long, tiresome and expensive if you haven't bought your tickets earlier, but don't know why, I never went there.... thing is that I'm more attracted to visit western countries or countries from northern Europe.
I'd love to see Japan one day, but never got till Bangkok.
While working he used to go to Singapore and Hong Kong (very expensive places) but everything was paid by his company.
One Sunday we were talking on the phone, we talked like 1 hour or so and later minded of our business.
On Thursday I call him and this girlfriend of his answered crying like hell....
I realized something happened and she told me he had a heart attack on Monday.
I felt somehow like a bitter taste of sorrow because I knew we were talking as if it was yesterday right 1 day before he died. He was 38.
.........
Finally what I wanted to say was that his mother and brother couldn't go there.... (being so far) and this girlfriend of his couldn't do anything from there since she had no money.
So we were expecting the Thai government to send his body into Europe because it was in the morgue.
Eventually his mother and brother paid the necessary arrangements and they sent him back into our country after 1 month. Crazy isn't it ??
I went to his funeral and he had this regular coffin but after they took down its lid/cover the coffin was also covered with this thin metallic layer like canned fish have, probably to prevent warming and decomposing on the plane.
They tore down this layer about where his head was so that everyone could see him for the last time.
That's why I don't like funerals at all ....
In my country we're mostly Christians and we bury the dead but lately it's more and more common to get them cremated as well.
Wanted to tell the story since the beginning of the topic but it was too long ... to tell it ...
....
That's about it
