Funerals....a load of bollocks???

I've been considering donating my remains to a medical school, since (a) my grave marker's already covered with the exception of filling in the date of death and (b) medical schools are in ongoing need of remains to train doctors with in any case. The remaining questions I have are "which medical school should my corpse go to and why?"

I also saw (at the news) a guy who jumped from the 8th floor because he wanted to commit suicide... Unfortunately (for him), when he reached the 3rd floor he landed on a poplar then to earth and nothing happened :)
Like this cat who jumped 5 floors and saved itself from fire..... so it may be true that cats have 9 lives after all....

I don't know. The one I saw (after he'd been run over) still sort of looked like a cat but had the shape of a pancake... even a taxidermist wouldn't be able to do anything with it.

Sometimes cats or stray dogs get hit by cars while they try crossing a street with more bands...
Usually it happens in larger cities... and some drivers can't avoid them since they jump in front of your car...
But let's not get into "details" since this forum has many cat fans :)
In any way such things are not pleasant to see. Not for the "untrained" eye anyway...

I plan on donating my body to the UCLA School of Medicine because the Westwood campus is only a ten-minute drive from my home. Heck, they won't even need a refrigerated van -- just send a guy with a pickup truck.

I've just learned that in my country there are no inheritance taxes on what you bequeath to a nonprofit humanitarian organization. I'd rather do that than enrich some asshole undertaker by buying a nice casket or whatever...

Back when our death tax exemption was only $1,000,000 my grandmother planned on leaving everything over that to charity, just to make sure the government couldn't get any of her money after she died.

Well sure: they're vague enough to partially describe any human.

So...they're more vague?

Generally those are invented predictions.... so they are vague yes....
I was talking about each sign's description .... not about the daily predictions.
Some really make a career from this..... of course not all are trustworthy :)
What's certain anymore ? Many things are vague .
....
I was playing free poker on a website and I played with this woman from South Africa at a table ....
We started chatting and she told me she was some sort of a fortuneteller :)
We were making conversation.... ( I didn't say I believe in all these things).... at first I said she's full of crap....
She was really making money out of this.... I mean her clientele was quite numerous.... she had this website and everything.... she was "specialized" in all sort of readings..... tarot, regular 52 deck cards and everything lol :)
So you can't tell how many naive people are in this world to pay real money on such things.
Funny thing was that I gave her my date of birth and year....
And she made 2 kind of readings for me..... very detailed ones.... not vague at all :)
One from a Tarot deck and the other from another type of cards - I don't remember their name anymore.... but anyway.
I remained quite surprised since what she wrote there ...... about my past and present were quite true in let's say 75 %.
I let her know my birth of date and year .... just out of fun to see what is she capable of.... but it was quite an interesting experience :)
Hardly vague at all :)

The segue into astrology is getting rather far off topic, so let’s try to bring it back to the subject at hand.

How much personal information is in your online poker profile? Just saying.

Tarot is nonsense but it’s kind of awesome nonsense. Its mythology is pretty damn cool. And the people who practice it are charlatans with detective like intuition.

"I stayed up all night playing poker with tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died." - Steven Wright

That request to get back on topic applies to everyone.

Back to our topic then..... about funerals....
And about leaving the coffin open.... I've seen people watching the man who passed away.... sometimes even kissing their beloved one on the forehead.
Do you believe a dead person could transmit any disease he might have had before dying (being freshly dead) to those who are paying their final respects ? Is this custom healthy ? Or should they be restricted in just watching him/her ?

P.S. I hate being superstitious :) Hopefully no one "up there" notices we're talking all sort of stuff about the dead and later punish us for talking on this subject all kind of things :)
I mean when we get to the "checkpoint" - Saint Peter might not be so "lenient" and will forbid our pass into "paradise" and send us a few floors lower :)

As I said, my friends and family can do whatever they like, but some of the funny funeral ideas I've heard/thought of would be great. I also have a book of funny tombstones around here somewhere I may want to include with my will...

So was I.

I turned 50 this year and a couple of day after doing so got a cold call offering me a funeral plan. Politely declined but couldnt get off the phone fast enough. Thanks for the reminder ive (probably) got less days ahead than are behind me.

I dunno, i am not religious, i dont have kids, im hoping (in a good way) my parents go before me, obviously there is my wife to consider and other friends and family but i just cant bring myself to start planning for something like that.

I would definitely be happy with whatever is the cheapest solution
