Yup. Before, every episode was a different thing. Discovery is taking that and applying it to seasons instead. Which is good. The focus shouldn't be just one thing. The show is about Michael Burnham the adventures of the USS Discovery. Each season is a different adventure.Discovery has already fulfilled an anthology format in a way: 3 seasons with a fairly different premise:
Season 1: Klingon war, establishing characters and building itself from something from less familiar to the morality and ethics we are more familiar with. Season 2: A quest story with Pike and the Enterprise as sort of an early TOS 2.0. 3. A future story unbound by any previous ties to the universe around it.
