Full Circle Partial Prologue on Amazon (Spoilers)

i'm a little late to this argument, but why do fans who are upset over janeway's literary death get so much scorn and ridicule heaped on them by the rest of the trek fandom? it seems that if it had been picard or sisko there would be just as much, it not more, uproar. it seems a tad elitist.

Hmmm, I've never thought about it that way before. If Picard or Sisko died then I would definitely quit the books.

Janeway though, whereas I like her character, I could continue on without.

Sisko DID die. Did you quit the books then?

Sure he came back later, but so could Janeway, and at least theoretically so could Picard if he were to ever perish.

I for one would still read the books if Picard or Sisko died. As long as the story is good and it still maintains that "trek" feel, i'm there:techman:

I guess you're just more desperate for Star Trek then we are - real hardcore fans of TrekLit.

But as I've said many times before if they dont want our money, so be it - I can find other things to spend my money on, lots of things.

Picard could get buggered to death by a targ for all I care - as long as it makes sense in the story.

OK, I'm throwing down the gauntlet - I want somebody to write a Star Trek story in which Jean-Luc Picard getting buggered to death by a targ makes sense in the story. C'mon, guys - I have faith in you! :p

Sisko never died. I know some people like Allan interpreted WYLB as a death, but I thought it was pretty clear that Sisko was only switching locations, and this, for an explicitly limited amount of time.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

I have a question for those who have read the excerpt, because it's going to be months before the book comes out in Britain...

Is it Montgomery? Don't correct me if I'm wrong, but tip me a wink if i'm right...

cheers

This is a thread with Spoilers in the TITLE! Why are we using spoiler code? :p

Oh well, here's my question (after reading the Amazon experts):

Voyager back in the DQ AGAIN? Chrissakes, haven't these people been through ENOUGH? They spent years trying to get home, and now they gotta go BACK again? I caught the mentioning of 'slipstream', but the last time they tried that, the ship crashed and killed everyone. I assume then that they worked the kinks out of it? So how much faster is it now? Can they come home relatively soon if they want to? Seems massively unfair to strand them out in the DQ again after they only just got back home. :(

I did not see what you were referring to, but in the Destiny trilogy, which takes place about 3 years after the beginning of Full Circle, Starfleet has one starship, the USS Aventine, that has a working quantum-slipstream drive. I would assume that Starfleet successfully used Voyager's information about the drive that they brought home to make a version which would work on a Starfleet ship.

Yeah um it would help you a lot in the bring back Janeway debate if you didn't resort to saying your more a fan of Trek lit then the people who disagree with you.

^You're misreading. That's not what she said at all.

Actually I saw a series of letters written to one of the fans. The first few were signed by Jeri Taylor and stated that There would be more J/C to come in Seasons 3 and 4. Then subsequent letters began to back off that topic. The first few saying that it was on the back burner and finally the last signed by Braga saying that J/C wouldn't evolve beyond friendship. I only saw them once and can't remember what website they were on for the life of me!

And you're misremembering. :p

What you're thinking of is an extremely funny sort-of-meta-fanfic written by Anne Marie Mueller, called "Official Response." I defy anyone to read it and not think it could have happened. My favourite bit: "We hope you enjoy series V". Ha!

Solet me get this straight

So basically the serior staff minus Janeway, Chakotay, Tuvok, and maybe or maybe not Neelix will be back well this should kill the all the main characters are gone stuff.

Really, it will make a whole lot more sense if you're simply patient and wait to read the novel as a novel, instead of jumping around Amazon Look Inside and looking at snippets and fragments.

And we're using spoiler code because some people, I assume, are going to content themselves with the excerpt.

Not if the title of the thread is "Full Circle Partial Prologue on Amazon (Spoilers)" and not "All of Full Circle Which I Cheatingly Read Using 'Look Inside' on Amazon (Spoilers)".

You do realize that this seems like a tempting invitation to start a new thread with that exact title?

But, seriously, I agree about the spoiler coding. Safer always = better.

I guess I don't understand the difference. I mean, they're both talking about Amazon, aren't they? Partial prologue, 'look inside', ends up being the same thing in this case.
