Oh I don't know about that. Nemesis was just the last in a string of bad films (with a few exceptions). Trek was heading for the dumpster anyway by that point. Only the best Trek movie of all time could have saved it.

Star Wars still survives and sells merchendise, you can barely find Trek stuff. People are gearing up for a SW TV show, even Roddenberry's own son isn't to keen on a new Trek film this soon.

^ True, but merchandising wise I feel Star Wars was always way more popular than Star Trek anyway. I've never seen kids playing with Star Trek action figures.

As a franchise i think it eclipses Trek in popularity and recognition as a whole in fact. I have spoken to people who didn't even really know Star Trek came back in the 80s

I don't get it. In fact I never got the nerds who insist on comparing ST and SW. A work of art in any medium can only be measured by it's own merits and as such I love both because they are both great and succeed at what they intend to do while telling good stories. If you must lock yourself into a SW or ST box and shun all else it's your loss but it's you who also sounds like a screaming loon.

Am I mistaken, or is IM'd phrasing generally less-prefered on this board--what with all the "use proper English" postings and corrections (which I don't mind). It certainly makes specific posts stand out as ravings.
