Sad to say but doing a modern score by pop artists would help attract the casual fan. I know my wife (not a SciFi fan) would enjoy this film more if it had music by artists she recognized.

It says more will be put on there. I know the Memphis screening scheduled for a week later (Oct. 14th) isn't on the Kino page yet.

I am pumped. Metropolis is fantastic. I'm watching the German version of the restoration on youtube now, and the new scenes are incredible, especially the new Yoshiwara footage.

The music is the original score, but it sounds different than the arrangement heard on the 2002 restoration. a newer recording I'm sure to account for the new footage and editing. It's much better.

Well, it was recorded live in an opera house, if you're watching the TV broadcast, which was just a broadcast of the screening in Berlin. I always find that to be more impressive than a studio recording somehow.

Such a shame London, Ontario is a bit of a black hole. We'd never get a big screening here. Tenth largest city in Canada and what do we get? Not Metropolis, that's for sure. We did have one theatre that used to show classics and "event" films like that but they closed years ago.

So, I wait for November. Just moved into a new house and maybe we'll have a big screen TV by then. Otherwise it's a 21" monitor...

I want to see this film in the best possible way, so I'm getting the blu-ray release. Since I have a region-free player I can choose between the Kino and the Masters of Cinema release. I'll probably go for the MoC edition, I like the looks of it...

The very first DVD I ever bought was "Metropolis." The quality was horrendous, the music simply two or three classical tracks which had nothing to do with the scenes played over and over again, the subtitles were sparce and confusing. I still loved the film, but resigned myself to the fact that there would never be a proper edit.

I cannot freaking wait for this blu-ray.

Saw "Metropolis" on the big screen at Proctor's in Schenectady, NY, today. Pretty good restoration (some segments of the film are still missing (so the restorers provide narrative so subsequent scenes make sense to the audience). There are a couple of scenes where members of the audience laughed -- tho' I don't think they were supposed to be funny.

Still undecided on getting the DVD.

Okay, I'm sold. I'll be getting this. I could have sworn I had it already, but it turned out to be a DVD-R from an old store-bought VHS tape.

Of course, it'll have to wait til Christmas, but like I said, I'm sold.
