Not a bad second episode. I still don't think Fringe is the new X-Files, it's not that good or cutting edge, but it is entertaining.

I was going to watch it last night after House (which I normally don't watch but loved last night), but I decided to go play Indiana Jones Monopoly instead. I'll watch tonight and get back with you guys. I enjoyed the pilot, but it's been months since I've seen it.

I find it.... frustratingly average. Not great. Not terrible, either. Just... meh. I don't find the characters to be very compelling or interesting. The actors are decent but not phenominal. The plots are creepy enough, but I guess I just don't see what's so new or fresh about the show.

I've put a lot of faith in JJ Abrams - perhaps too much. This show just doesn't seem to have his signature style (maybe that was Fox's doing).

Having the baby acquire mass out of nowhere as it grew to adulthood kind of took me out of it. Otherwise, it was entertaining enough. John Noble's character continues to be pretty good.

I bailed after the teaser. Between the gross-out last week and the screaming gross-out opener this week... this is just not my cup of tea. Best of luck to the show, but see ya.

I know what you mean. The one thing you could always count on with Abrams, was that even if a show's concept was familiar (a show about college kids or a spy) he was able to put a fresh spin on it somehow, and make the characters feel interesting and new. I don't see that happening with Fringe at all.

It almost feels more like something created by the teams behind Threshold or Invasion (show I actually found a lot more compelling) than the team behind Lost and Alias.

FYI, the last shot was clones of the superaging bad guy.

I thought it was supposed to be a flashback to some kind of experiment being conducted on Joshua Jackson's character, since his father hinted that something was done to him at some point...

I thought it was above average for today's TV, and I find the characters the most compelling part of the story. I like the fact that Olivia is beating herself up over her not having seen her boyfriend/partner's betrayal until it was too late and the self-doubt that's brought up in her.

One interesting thing I noted was that in the initial meeting of the panel that's following The Pattern, it was mentioned that the FBI hoped that their new team would have more luck than the previous one. So, what happened to their last team?

And Massive Dynamic is clearly the antagonist here, until proven otherwise. They pretend to be working with the government on solving The Pattern, but I'm guessing they're using that as a front to protect their own operations. Then again, this being a J.J. Abrams show, nothing is ever as it first appears.

The Peter Bishop character is going to have to find an official niche real quick, though. I like him, but he' just doesn't fit in a tidy spot. He's not FBI, and though highly intelligent, he's not the uber-genius his father is (he's also a crappy shot, as evidenced this week  ).

I'm going to stick with it for awhile and see if the show starts hitting on all cylinders. If it ends up to be a watered-down knock off of the X-Files, then I'll jump ship.

I really enjoyed it. I'm gonna watch this show as long as it's on. House gave it a HUGE bump a I said was a decent bet to happen last week.

Does it matter to anyone that Fringe is like seven minutes longer than other hourly shows because of the limited commercials?

I like it, but i think it is the kind of show that can't sustain itself.
Some shows should be planned out for a set number of episodes, kinda like an extended mini-series.

I think I'm dumping this show. There was nothing really here that was very interesting, and I can't say I'm a fan of the lead character much. Dunno really, there just nothing about it that makes me want to like it.

I'm really enjoying this show. The relationships between the characters seems very natural, I love how Dr Bishop never tries to cover up his lapses in memory, and the embarrassment and frustration on his face when he found that he'd forgotten he had a lab was brilliantly acted.
