Sure, but as far Olivia knew at that point, gun shots didn't necessarily mean Broyles had been killed. I don't blame her for not mentioning Broyles in that scene with Peter; she was trying to tell him that she came back for him. It wasn't meant to be an exacting factual account of how and why she was able to come home, it was just meant for her to start expressing how important he is to her.

A question about the last episode (2 weeks ago):

The killer’s name, or the guy involved...wasn’t it Twomey or something like that? Isn’t that the name of the guy who could squeeze through ducts and stuff in X-Files?

The character you refer to on THE X-FILES was named Tooms. He appears in "Squeeze" and "Tooms," both from the first season of that series.

But, back to FRINGE, everyone.

It was a bit cliched at some parts but it was good. I did appreciate alt-Broyles. The choice between Olivia saving of his child vs. the continuing "war between worlds" did seem the one conflict that drove him to the edge. It will be messy from now on.

Above Average - but not as good as I was hoping it would be. On the lower end of season 3 episodes so far. The only shocking moment was the fate of alt-Broyles. I did not see that coming. (I knew he was dead of course, but not how his body would be used)

But I'm confused - I thought *this* was the half-season finale. There is an episode next week? Because it certainly did not measure up to previous seasons half-season finales, who have all been very excellent.

Still, lots of good stuff.

Another excellent episode, but I have to agree with the chorus: Peter is an idiot and he's screwed (but not in the good way) in regards to his relationship with Olivia. How will he ever be able to explain to her how he didn't pick up the fact that wasn't her?

At the bar is John Lennon in the alternate universe singing "Anything you want" by Roy Orbison?
I recognized the song and knew it wasn't the original, but I couldn't remember who originally did it (rather embarrassed that I couldn't remember). I'm not sure if that was Lennon or not but I did pick up the implication that the song was suppose to be the original where in reality it's just a cover.

That was a great episode!

One question, though: Who's in charge of Red Fringe Division now, Lincoln Lee?
I think a bigger question is how is the Secretary going to explain Broyles' disappearance without raising suspicions.

The song is called "You Got It" and is from 1989. If that was supposed to be Lennon, it would be cover but mean that he was not killed by Chapman.

"You are the only reason I made it through". What about your boss / friend that was killed for helping you?! Why could she just go into the salt water to get back home.

Had she not had "Peter" in her mind reminding her she didn't belong to the alternate universe, the real her would've been gone.

The reason she can pass between universes is due to the treatment she got from Walter as a child and changes it made to her brain plus the sensory deprivation tank. She had her brain already, she needed the tank to get in the right state of mind.

But for a sensory deprivation tank to work, you need to be sealed in, in the dark, with peace and quiet, and a lot of time to relax and clear your mind. It really doesn't work in ten seconds with people screaming and shooting right outside. That was pretty silly.

A decent enough episode but a tad uneven in a few spots but exciting in others.

The typewriter explanation-meh.
The typewriter store guy thread's resolution-meh

This episode finally made me come to like and care for alternate Broyles although I still didn't like the way the writers set up his change of heart with last week's lamentable episode.

Loved Walter's "vaginda" rambling.:guffaw: Still don't care for Peter/Olivia shipping. I guess the extra dose of crofexerin{sp} was what allowed her to stick around permanently in our universe insteading of being pulled back--meh--more mumbo jumbo quick fix that I can't stand about Fringe.

It is still too early to judge what transpired in this first third of the season until we get the rest of the pieces since there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Olivia's return was a little anti-climatic after so much toying with the audience and build-up.

Above average.

I thought Peter was a necessary component of the machine? Since Peter killed one of the Mercury-Borgs they should have access to its data storage component and find out lots of info. Does anyone know how much of the machine exists in each universe? I cant wait until the attack blimps crossover!!

I enjoyed it a lot. Loved how they kept switching from one universe to the other. But but but Broyles! :( I didn't see that coming, and I feel like I did about Charlie. Nooooooo!

Watching Peter's face throughout... either devastated about being so blind, or reeeally wanting to blow AltLivia's head off. How about that take-no-shit command voice he used during the capture? Nice reminder of his darker, harder edge. And now he'll be all guilt-trippy after what our Olivia told him at the end. Choppy seas ahead.

I don't think this is the last we'll see of the alt-verse. I think Walternate has plans for his infernal machine, so someone will be Cortexiphanned and cross over to collect the missing pieces of the machine, and Peter, and wrestle them all back to the other side. Big season-ending climax, perhaps? (Please, don't make it a cliffhanger and then the show gets cancelled.)

My husband was asking me all sorts of questions about the missing machine parts, why were they hidden? what's that part AltLivia took? And I'm all, Don't look at me! We'll have to wait for more info on the First People.

Another fantastic Fringe episode this season even if I prefer a bit the ones before it (it's the difference between rating 9.0 and 9.2). This season Fringe is truly great.

I love how they make the transition between the universe by showing us the same location but with their respective differences.

This season Anna Torv is really showing her acting chops and it's incredible how she does infuse both Olivia with a different energy and mannerisms.

I hope we still see the alternate fringe team solving cases. They are a truly charismatic bunch. Franklin, Charlie, alt-Olivia, their slightly more advanced universe, the bantering between the characters, the differences with us, witty and cool. I miss them already.

Walter was again great in this episode from Vagenda to him trying to cover for Peter to his liberated college year.

I also love the way the alternate universe people are not shown to be evil with a black suit. But just people doing their best to save their world (beside Walternate which is a inhabited with anger, hate and revenge after the lost of his son). When the typewriter store clerk brought the weapon piece and ask for having his legs as promised. I expected the guy to just shoot him as cliche bad guy do. But they didn't. They held up to their end of the bargain. Beautiful.

I loved the scene with Brandon and Walternate in which Brandon suggest to Walternate to cut off Olivia's brain part for study. After watching a lot of CSI medical examiner chopping body part around, it's no surprise such scientific man can see human as meat and think about maximizing their benefit in their war. It was cold!!

It's also great that it's actually the little gastronomical gift brought by alt-livia which were able to crack the case for our team.

The little scene where altliva come back to her team was also great. With Lincoln saying it is as if nothing ever happened. Would have love to see the reaction of Charlie. I also wonder how close Altlivia was to their Broyles. This and her stint in our universe may influence her opinion about the inter-universe war.

Peter got a lot of explaining to do.

9/10

He could blame it on Olivia's escape. I know he only told Broyles and that scientist guy about olivia but he could reveal that and blame her for Broyles' death. Or he could say Broyles was on a special secret assignment and was killed.

Another good episode. i've liked every episode so far this season. i hope the move to Fridays doesn't kill it. I want another season of Fringe.

The first Friday episode has been moved up one week to January 21st. Christopher Lloyd will be guest-starring in the episode, which is titled... "Firefly."

Also, John Noble will apparently be doing a "tweet-along" Q&A during tomorrow's episode, "Marionette."
