I gave it an above average. It didn't give me as much as I wanted but they were obviously trying not to confuse new viewers, too, so I understand. The scene with the typewriter in the mirror was awesome, I have to say.

Also, Olivia loading the gun at the end was really sexy.

Shapeshifter sures changes clothes fast, yet forgets its device?

Funny I haven't watched except part of the finale repeat and this episode since last year.

Shape-shifting assassins, committees shutting down the project, lead character in the hostipal with critical injuries, lead actress faking a midwestern accent...I've seen this all before.

And it will all happen again. :D

I liked the episode, it's good to have it back. Definitely a few WTF moments, and the two X-Files references were cool too. :bolian: Maybe it's just me, but Olivia smiling after loading her gun was kind of sinister. As for Charlie, I had a feeling that was going to happen, though the shapeshifter sure shapeshifted quickly, considering it was a bit more involved process when we saw it happen at the beginning of the episode.

I still think Oliva never left the other side...

Only halfway through the episode, but how can this be the other side if Peter is present? There AREN'T two of him.

Maybe this episode explains why Peter was front and center in the publicity photo.

I thought maybe that the new agent was the alt version of Olivia from the other verse at first. It is odd that they are so similar at first blush. Hopefully it's not a Kara/Paula situation and will have Ellen Degeneres as an agent next year replacing Olivia.

I was a little disappointed that Massive Dynamic doesn't have stronger pull with congressional funding.

I am confused. Did I miss something between last season's finale and this season premire?

I'm having the same feeling.

Supernatural sort of did the same kind of thing. It seems like a lot of series seeming go to the next level on a cliffhanger ending and then kind of quickly backtrack when they pick up again.

And maybe this is her dupe? The thought had crossed my mind.

So the shapeshifter was able to kill Charlie, turn into Charlie, change into Charlie's clothes, hide Charlie's body, bring in the nurse's body and put her clothes back on her before anyone reached the scene?

I give it an "Above Average". It wandered a bit in places, but the last half was pretty good. Looks like they're set to take things in a bit of a different direction this year.

Did anyone happen to spot an Observer in this episode? I'm terrible at it, but I didn't even see a hint of one this time around...

Well the way things stand now, "Charlie" can't and won't be on the show for the long run. Unless Mirror Universe Charlie shows up with Mirror Universe Agent Scott.

If anyone cares, the new agent was the female baddie in that Knight Rider remake episode with the underground fighting.

Maybe that device could be used to reverse the process? Maybe somehow it buffers the last transfer so Charlie could be restored? Out there, but it's Fringe were talking about.

Don't feel bad, I'm not sure what happened here either. Hopefully, they'll reverse the mystery and we'll learn what happened after she met with Bell.
In the Fringe article in Entertainment Weekly's fall preview issue, I think they mentioned they would be going back to Olivia's visit with Bell in Episode 4 or so.

I assume the incinerator was the place the shapeshifter chose to ambush. As a trained assassin, he had to have had escape and backup plans.
