Yea if DirectTV is paying for that much of the production costs then even if it definitely makes sense. This is why they're doing the whole Jay Leno 5 nights a week at 10PM thing. Extremely low production costs. I'm sure they don't think he'll get ratings as good as some original shows they've aired at 10PM, but the cost of how much it will be for that hour of programming vs how much they'll then make with the ratings is better then an original show.
Network TV is dying... DYING. The ratings just keep getting worse and worse. Hit shows today probably have less ratings then shows of 10 years ago that wouldn't have even cracked the top-20. Hell some of the ratings the networks are getting for shows look worse then what WB shows got 10 years ago.
Network TV is pretty much gone. DVR, online viewing, tons of cable channels, video games, computer games, etc... It's just going to continue getting worse and worse. NBC seems like they might be onto something though with the Leno decision and staying with this DirectTV deal for FNL.
