...and back in the 90's it was the ozone depletion that was going to doom us all...it's always something.

That's completely different. That's a real concern based on science, not a superstition based on gross ignorance of science. The only reason the ozone problem has been mitigated is because we recognized it in time and passed laws to restrict practices and substances that contributed to ozone depletion. As a result, the deterioration of the ozone layer has slowed, but recovery is not expected for several more decades, and only if we continue the responsible policies we've instituted. It remains an issue of concern, even if it isn't as hyped in the media as it was.

The crisis has been mollified (at least for now) by informed, responsible action, but that doesn't mean the crisis never existed or should not still be taken seriously.

That article is also by an unqualified source with a political bone to pick.

Rogelio Maduro... is not an atmospheric physicist or chemist; but he is, regrettably, a follower of Lyndon LaRouche, and a regular contributor to LaRouchie publications such as 21st Century Science and Technology and the Executive Intelligence Review. Alas, his co-authored book, The Holes in the Ozone Scare, published by the LaRouchie press, was the first and, to my knowledge, the only skeptical book on the ozone controversy to have appeared.

There will always be people who dispute any scientific theory, but that doesn't mean those disputes are evidence of legitimate doubt in the scientific community. There are people alive today who insist that the Earth is flat or that the Nazi Holocaust never happened. You can pull up articles on the Internet in favor of any crackpot idea. So just posting some random link doesn't prove anything.

Hey that was a good article I gave you...it may be old but it makes a lot of sense. I don't want to disparage wiki but items on there have proven to be unreliable in the past... just say'en.

Does anyone remember May 5th, 2000? There was an alignment of the planets on that day that was supposed to yank the asymetrical (relative to the south pole) ice build up on Antartica up to the equator. The earth's crust was apparently supposed to slide over the liquid magma layer beneath. I'm sticking my neck out here, but I'm fairly sure that didn't happen.

See Iasius' post above. He mentioned the same (non-)event.
