The Trek uniform and the girlfriend...."the Best of Both Worls"...heh....that was a good score on the TNG Ops Shirt, looks great. The conventions must be full of Science/Medical people because the teal seems to be the rarest of them all.

I've never had a costume although back in the days when I had hair and a beard I always wanted to go as Commander Riker for Halloween. What do you think, could I have pulled it off?

I know there's some online, but those are like $50. I got one today at the local costume shop for $20!!! I bought black pants to go with it and now all I need are the rank pips and combadge!

Ok, there's a bit of a crisis now. There's a costume contest in my residence hall on Sunday, and it doesn't seem like I'll be getting the rank pips and combadge till next week at least. What's the best way to make your own that's quick and easy? Posterboard cutouts with double-sided tape?

If you own any old playmates figures, their little figure bases make excellent stand-in combadges.

^Actually, I did that last year with my room key. I've got a clip thing I can put on my waistband that will hold my ID and key.


UPDATE: I bought some supplies to make improvised pips and a combadge with. A decently thick white paper board thing and some gold and silver paint pens that I can use to make a combadge, and I have a few potential options for rank pips:

1. hole punch that thick board and paint with the pen (might be tough)
2. cut the circles myself (might be damn near impossible considering how good I am at cutting smooth lines)
3. Gold thumbtacks... with the backings from three of my pins that I have on my letter jacket. Use a marker to make the black circle inside the half pip. (I just might go with this one. Gotta see if they fit the backings right.

Also need to test just how "permanent" the double sided tape I bought is.
