Former Voyager main actors doing?

Tim Russ is the school Principal in Nickelodeon's "iCarly" which started on Friday, as well as being a recurring reg in Sam Who? (or whatever they're calling the show this week) which starts later this month

Ha! And here I thought this thread was degenerating into a "What has Beltran done lately"-discussion ;)

Yep, Tim is in "iCarly" and he is a *regular*, not a recurring character, in "Samantha Who?" (that's the latest title), which will start in October on ABC. It will be on Monday night after "Dancing with the Stars" - but since the latter starts out with two hours, the premiere of "Samantha Who?" must wait till "Dancing with the Stars" is down to one hour-shows. Then, "Samantha Who?" will take over the second hour. As of now, the series start is scheduled for Oct. 15. Tim plays "Frank, the doorman" - he is the doorman of the house where the title character, Samantha, lives. Until she got amnesia she never paid him any attention, but it turns out he knows a lot about her and he sort of becomes her go-to-person/mentor.

Other than that, Tim is working on various other projects, he got a new CD out ("Second Thoughts") this spring, has written and directed a few more shorts ("Plugged", starring fellow Trek actors Dominic Keating, Gary Graham, Nikita Ager and Ethan Phillips, premiered in Vegas last month, the next one, "Super Heroes", is in post production - once again with Gary Graham), is about to get his children's audiobook "Bugsters!" published as a book (the book will be out some time this winter, it was also introduced in Vegas), and "Of Gods and Men" is finally nearing completion.

Tim has also been acting a lot recently, with guest appearances on various shows, e.g. "Twenty Good Years", "General Hospital", "Without a Trace", "Hannah Montana", and a small part in the movie "Live Free or Die Hard".

PS: pics from Vegas are up at http://www.timrusstribute.com/Appearances26.htm (Tim performing with his band and doing the talk on stage), http://www.timrusstribute.com/Bugsters.htm (the introduction of the "Bugsters!"-book) and http://www.timrusstribute.com/Current%20Projects.htm (the introduction of "Plugged"); I haven't gotten around to doing pics of other actors yet, but will let you know, once those are up.

Degenerating? Nah, you'll KNOW when that happens  All I can say is at least we're bothering to post and talk to one another in a positive way about someone/something we're passionate about. If that's 'degenerating', I'll take it any day of the week ;)

I didn't mean to offend you, I just was alluding to the fact that there was considerably more discussion about him here than the other VOY actors. There are ten of them, after all (counting both, Ryan and Lien), not just one or two (see? I don't want this to "degenerate" into a just-Tim-thread either).

Come to think of it, I'm wondering where the fans of all the other actors are... Surely, they have more detailed information on their favorites' current work as well?

Wow TMara, Tim is indeed one busy guy!! Good to read that. I wish that Robert wanted to do guest roles in tv-series. But on a convention in Frankfurt he told us that he didn't want that. That is too bad. There are so many great series (imho) and we the fans would have more opportunities to see him at work.

Hi Helmgirlie and nx1701g,

yep, I am really happy for Tim and proud of him that he is doing so much right now! :)

Helmgirlie, I understand how you feel about Robert not wanting to do any TV guest-roles. There have been times when Tim didn't do too much of that either. But... they do other stuff instead. Robert does those indie movies mentioned above, and Tim was concentrating more on his own projects, like e.g. the children's audio-book "Bugsters!", that he wrote, produced and performed together with Jedda. And boy, was that a *great* project! It won an award as "Best children's audio book" (I think for age group 4-8), was later re-released with more bug songs and is now about to be published as a book (with the CD attached), so that kids can read along with the CD.

Sometimes it's better for them (or allows them greater creativity) to do other things, even if we, the fans, would prefer them to be more visible on TV.

Speaking of TV... I am fairly certain that Picardo and Phillips do guest appearances, and Robbie and Roxann direct for TV shows. Might be fun to catch them from time to time..
(Okay, I do know that Robbie directed the pilot for Tim's new show "Samantha Who?")

And is Garrett doing something at the moment? I know about Kate's play (yeah... fun for those on the East coast, not too good for those of us living farther away... but I am sure, it's great for Kate!)

^^The only listing IMDB has for Garrett is, "Of Gods & Men".

However, I've heard rumors that he's switched careers from acting and is persuing one in sports instead. If it's true, I wonder if it's golf?

Shark switches to Sunday nights this season, with the second season premiere on Sept. 23.

TMara - thanks so much for posting all the info about Tim Russ. I've not kept up with his doings lately, and it's good to see that he is (still) so busy.

I always thought he was one of the more talented actors on VOY, and it is apparent that others have noticed the same. :)
