Are you preparing for future food shortages??

There's been riots around the world over food shortages in such places as Tunisia, the middle east and Africa and there's people saying that food shortages may hit Europe and America some time soon in the future.

Do you believe we could be hit by food shortages? Are you preparing for future food shortages? if so what are you doing? if not why not?

There were food shortages rising last year during the oil price hike, I've heard nothing about it since, and oil prices dropped then stabilised, so I'm not too worried, no.

Well i'm not taking anything for granted. I'm stocking up on food especially packets of pasta and rice just incase.
I certainly aint getting caught with my trousers down. ;)

I can't keep ahead on groceries more than a few days, so unless the shortage lasts two or three days, um, no.

J.

Am I preparing? No. And no, I would not pay that much for bread, when I can bake it myself as long as I have access to some sort of grain.

And I could prolly eat from our cupboards for several weeks before starvation and boredom hits. (The chocolatestash in my bakingcabinet could keep hormonal women happy for months)

I keep the pantry stocked. But that's not going to last me more than six months. And if there were rolling black outs, a loss of running water or some such I would not be able to prepare half of it. No matter how I prepare, I'm screwed if society collapses. So I'm not going to worry about it. Too much.

Why 365 of those packages? Why not buy a 5 kilo bag at once.. or in your case.. about 60 of them?

OK I exaggerated the 365 packets, i'll probably just buy the biggest packets of it I can find and store as much as possible in my spare room.

I wonder what other foods would last a long time in storage. Hmmm.
