Folding Phones. Do you want one? What do you want in it?

Was surfing news sites, say some new folding phones, I think this one was Microsoft, and was $1400!!! sheesh..
So, those of you who like them? Would like them? What would you like them to be, have??

I remember Earth Final Conflict (yes.. that one..) had a video phone, and it "opened" to a tablet sized screen, some roll able/fold able screen. I kind of want that instead of just a "Fold" but a rolled up version.
That and actually a SMALL fold Screen, take an averaged larger size, maybe 5.6 inch or so, and fold that over and you have an actual Front pocket phone ( I despise putting my phone in my back pocket, but i have to.. and I sit on it alot.)

I can see a scroll phone that rolls up into a tube with a camera on one end and a mic in the other. The screen would be a membrane, but for calls and texts, you just speak into it, and texts are “read” to you in the synthetic “voice” of the person who texted you. Most of the time it stays rolled up and you use it as a com lock from 1999 with a strip screen on the handle for important blurbs.

Two iPhones in a clamshell (Her) might work.
One side electronic “paper” for lower energy

I might get the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 if my mobile service offers a good deal on it.

I just bought a new Galaxy A51, which is about the size and shape of a checkbook (I'm actually using a spare vinyl bank book holder as a phone case, which works surprisingly well), and I'd find it easier to carry in a pocket if it folded in the middle communicator-style, as I see one or two of the newer models can do. The new phone's larger size makes it better to read from, no question, but I miss how neatly my old Galaxy Mini fit into my shirt pocket. I could even fit it in there horizontally so it'd be held snugly and not fall out if I leaned forward.

Although the ones that unfold into a tablet like that Galaxy Z look interesting too. Maybe eventually we'll have ones that you can unfold twice on perpendicular axes, though it's hard to see how the mechanics of that would work.

Ironic -- flip-open phones used to be the norm a couple of decades ago, then they became obsolete, and now they're cutting-edge all over again.

What I miss is, carrying my phone in my FRONT pocket. Past 2 phones have been of the I guess now standard large size and because of that, I have to put it in my Back pocket. Which necetates me taking it out of my pocket every time I sit down. Now if it was in front I wouldn't bother.
Just wondering if there would be a market for smaller touchscreen phones, say 5 inches or less?

I can't imagine a folding screen would last even the two years it takes me to pay for a phone.

The cost isn't a real problem, as my S20 Ultra was $1500 when I got it 6 month ago. I like the large screen, although they are getting more and more uncomfortable in my jeans pocket as they get bigger.

Also somewhat more likely to crack the thing in your back pocket, even with a good Otterbox.
