Re: FlashForward: "Revelation Zero, Parts 1 and 2" 3/18/10 - Grade/Dis

Well, I'm really running behind this week. We just finished watching the tape yesterday and I have to say that this second half of the season is off to a kick-ass start. The various revelations concerning Simon's background were surprising, to say the least. I sure as hell never thought that he was Suspect Zero.

I'm now fully hooked on this series. I can't wait to see where we go for here. Voted Excellent for the whole two hours.

I really, really enjoyed it. I can hardly wait for next week, and it's been a while since I've said that about a sci-fi type show (I'm looking at you, Doctor Who). It has to be excellent from me.

This is a really stupid question, but put up with me for a minute, will you?

I record the show and make DVDs for myself. I'm wondering what the "official" numbering is for the episodes.

For example, is the "catchup" episode counted as being a "special" or does it have a legitimate episode number? (I've noticed at tv.com they numbered the "V" catchup as episode number "0", but with "FF" they counted it as a regular episode...unless that's changed since I looked.)

Anyone know how the "suits" or at least FF fandom in general is handling the episode numbering?

For episode numbering "catch-up episodes" aren't considered part of the season (they're usualy not even put on the DVDs as such) or reduce the "ordered number" of episodes a series had.

Two-part episodes like this one are considered to be two episodes and should be numbered accordingly.

So the number of the episodes should go:

A561984: 1x10
Recap Episode: 1xX
Revelation Zero Part 1: 1x11
Revelation Zero Part 2: 1x12

Let me just ask how, even if there were some good reason for Campos to be in a stadium during the blackout, he gets back to Canada untraceably when he's killed his ride? Or how he's going to not be in serious trouble when the cops find dead Flosso and dead friend in truck?

.

It was a safe place, no random car crashes and because of controlled air space over a stadium no random aircraft crashes all of which killed the millions worldwide.

I know what your thinking why not just tell him to go to a bunker? I haven't figured that part out except he can be identified and that could be used as leverage against him.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that the airspace over stadiums is restricted in any meaninful manner and commercial planes wouldn't drop out of the sky (as we see occur in the episode.)

I don't know what happened to the show. Usually shows start out weak and grow into something great but FF seems to have done the reverse. The characters became dull and the mystery flat as the season went on.

Nice cast but boring characters stuck in a rather underwhelming mythology. I knew the series was lacklustre when I waited until this afternoon to watch it off the DVR--if I love a series I can't wait to watch it.

Average--not bad just boring.

I really enjoyed it. Simon being Suspect Zero is little dull. The way the guy moved in the security video actually made him look like Simcoe (though granted from memory he had an alibi too).

The FBI are really boring now. It's like they've taken on the writers from Grey's Anatomy, and just let them do whatever they want. Tinfoil on the tracker? Why not simply cut it off and throw it on a passing truck heading for the border?

Mark's circular flashforward is a bit silly too: he says he wished simcoe was behind the 8-ball when he came crashing through - and then finds the 8-ball. Yet without the flashforward he wouldn't have found that piece of information, never gone there and not had the flashforward involving that piece of info.

It's the same as his wall of crazy stuff, it's all a predestination paradox where the futures they all saw happened mainly BECAUSE of what they saw in the Flashforwards to begin with. It's the same as Bryce and his Japanese girlfriend, since he's saying "you're really here" as in "I saw this moment and now it's happening for real".

Too bad, since he and Nicole have pretty good chemistry themselves.
