I think he meant, an absurdly exaggerated version of some of the worst traits of 20th century humans.
They have to make films about baseball to make it interesting, because it's so boring in itself.
Why throw away computers that work?
One might say that she's becoming more like Curzon, or incorporating some of his traits and developing a taste for activities he was into, but that she was still having trouble incorporating them in her personality because of her previous tense relationship with Curzon, the only one of her previous hosts she met as Jadzia before the joining... though I shouldn't say more, since there's an upcoming episode that deals with the relationship between Curzon and Jadzia, and the issue is only resolved a season later.
Tennis is more popular than baseball by a fair margin.
Tennis is fairly popular all around the world. Baseball is basically only popular in the USA and slightly popular in Japan. It makes sense if you think about it from a world perspective. Most people (not in the USA) would claim Tennis is better than baseball.
Just like in the future you'd assume everyone loves soccer but no-one's heard of American Football.

A Necessary Evil
Today angels pissed against my window, when I woke up to eat my breakfast - bourbon and pack of cigarettes. Thinking about past events, I realised that I should have started writing my research a long time ago. But instead I procrastinated my life like a dead Jesus on rollerskates.
Hours went by and I did nothing but sit and drink and smoke. Sun went and sun came, and to end my day I put my dvd of DS9 and let it roll. It was a dark and stormy night.
The show started. It was a dark and stormy night. The fuck? Was I in some devious mind-game by the powers that be, an observer of my own life, or had I lost all touch with reality.
"I did not kill him," said the women in nightdress and I believed her, because she was hot. A mystery was laid out before my eyes and all I could do was watch in silent awe.
A man was dead, his brother like a delirious satan beside him. The thing was suspicious like a virgin prom queen. I travelled back in time and witnessed a different world with different people carrying familiar faces, hiding their humanity between false words of deceit.
"I did not kill him," said the woman when she was thrown into the lockerhouse and I believed her. Kira looked Odo in the eye and all I could say was "fuck yeah!"
Fuck yeah - this episode is perfect, absolutely perfect in every way. And this is all I wanted to say. Now you might wonder why it took me so long to say that this episode is awesome. Well, I thought I should do something special and I started to study noir-speak, so there would be a stylistic coinciding... but then I got tired and kept postponing it. Oh well. Happens.
I lazy.

Second Sight
Well this is quite a drop from the previous episode. Perhaps this episode isn't as bad or boring objectively, but it definitely feels lacking after the previous one.
Hey, Jake is back. Have I actually seen him in this season before? He looks taller.
Yeah the thing with the woman not loving his husband, his husband knowing this, and the woman dreaming up a different person to strike a romance with a random stranger, and then the suicide - is all nice and sad, but after the strong stylistic direction in previous episode, this episode just seems so lost and undirected.
I'm not even sure I know more about Sisko than I did before.

Ah, Necessary Evil is brilliant! It's a perfect example of what makes DS9 a special show. The last scene is so good it's ridiculous.
Necessary Evil is really awesome. And of course, Terok Nor = Trek noir.

The next few episodes are indeed a step down. The middle part of season 2 has lots of meh episodes, but then there is a streak of some 8 or 9 really good ones at the end of the season.

This is the closest I have ever come to falling in love with another man. That paragraph was... inspired.
Yeah, Necessary Evil, big thumbs up, great final scene. You'll see the Terok Nor days at least twice more, but this is easily the best of those stories.
Second Sight is the worst of the season in my opinion, and it underlines how useless Sisko is as a character at this point. I think it might be the first episode where Ira Behr and Robert Hewitt Wolfe wrote together, which is noteworthy because they team up midway through season 3 and write many of the big event episodes together. This episode isn't indicative of their usual quality though, I think the blame might lay with Mark Gehred-O'Connell since he went on to write season 3's big stinker as well.
