First spy PHOTOS of Quinto as Spock

That is...wow. He really does look like Nemoy! Though I'm wondering if his bangs aren't a little too low. Hard to tell...

I'm sure the length of the bangs varied at different times over the years.

As for the original Spock actor's name, it's "Nimoy", not "Nemoy". :(

D'oh! Fixed... :o

It's just that, IMO, the longer bangs look a little...silly. Not that that isn't a common enough complaint about the Moe Howard haircut, b ut still...

How are they getting these shots, we never got them for the TNG movies?! (Did we?)

Well, it's also true that the TNG movies didn't do a lot of location shooting in populated areas early in production.

That, and the enormous multiplication of things like digital phones (with easy uploading) and camera phones in the last four or five years...

Well, this just blows my hopes to see a clean shaven Quinto in line at a Starbucks all to hell!
Who'd get excited about those now?

Man, who woulda thought we'd be getting shots like this, and this early? Wow!

It's official: Mr. Quinto, say 'buh-bye' to your old life. Real Fandom is upon you now.
:D

Yeaaa...you boys quibble about the most ridiculous things. :bolian:

Quinto would appears to be a dead ringer, but these story rumors...distressing. Its beginning to feel like an all-or-nothing scenario. If it sells big time, maybe we get a sequel (but begin with a film that sounds more like a completion rather than a begining for the "canon" verse) OR it fails miserably and the nay-sayers can say "Oh it was bad..but...at least we saw the very first adventure..*sigh, sigh*).

Whatchas think about that?

"Spock, why are you keeping all these brains in jars in the bowling alley refrigerator?!?"

I don't think interest in any of the TNG movies even approached the interest in this one.

I tend to agree. I've been with the BBS for close to six years now, so I can recall the interest level for Nemesis in 2002. I really don't remember it generating this much discussion, especially this early on.

And yeah, Quinto looks amazingly like a young Nimoy. I can't wait to hear him deliver some dialogue.

I got back into the BBS over the rumors of the movie. But for perspective, I showed my wife the pictures, and got a, "Huh," as she walked away.

Yeah, the voice will either cinch it or make it crash. Of course, can't expect him to sound exactly like Nimoy. I'd be satisfied with the cadence, though. That's as crucial as the look.

Now, can he sing "Bilbo"? That's the real test. :D

^That's my ONLY concern after seeing those amazing pics & vid. The TIMBRE of Spock's voice. On Heroes, Quinto generally speaks in a bit of a whisper and when he DOES use his voice, it tends to be somewhat high-pitched.

Well, certainly compared to NIMOY'S rich speaking voice. :)

And that's a relatively small quibble, I suppose.

The only thing I'd say is I disagree about it being a small quibble. I do think it's a big deal. Spock was cerebral and even somewhat spiritual in a way, but he always spoke with great authority. If Quinto can't reach Nimoy's rich intonation, he has to at least be sharp, enunciate every syllable crisply, and be confident in what he says.
For example, he couldn't scream, "The women!" and make it sound like he saw a mouse.

But, he read for the part, and if it satisfied Abrams, he must be OK.

See, I'm satisified with Quinto's look, but I've moved on and found something else to be nervous about -- his voice. Come on, everyone, pile on! Lest we get too giddy. ;)

From what I have seen of him on Heros, I think Quinto is going to make an excellent Spock. He has managed to add a lot of layers to a character that could have just been an evil cardboard-cutout.

Wow, Quinto looks great. That's closer to Nimoy's Spock than I expecting them to even attempt.

I think Quinto's voice is actually more important than how he looks in costume, though--but it'll be a while before we see how well he nails that.
