First SFA Trailer

or identifying Adira as non-binary.
That's just because it wasn't said on screen yet.

If Adira had said they were non-binary in their first appearance it would of been on their M-A page day one. If people had waited for the next episode where it was actually first mentioned, it would of also been added. There was no malicious intent behind not having it on their page before it was officially confirmed in-universe.

This is how Memory-Alpha has always worked. Though they have been modifying their policies slightly since then and in light of more and more writers/creatives posting tidbits on social media. Personal social media accounts are now considered as much of a valid source of BTS info as a making of book.

like using the name "Kelvin Timeline"
That's because a term was already applied to that timeline in the movie. On screen sources override BTS stuff.

The page does mention the Kelvin Timeline as an alternate name for the timeline now in the opening paragraph, I have no idea when that was added.

Except the episode which established Adira as non-binary aired in November 2020 and MA pulled their stunt in January 2021. We have a whole thread on the matter from January 2021 in which one of MA's staff even tried to defend the decision.

That didn't stop MA from calling the Mirror Universe "Mirror Universe" for years before that term was first spoken onscreen in 2019 despite another term having already been used onscreen in TOS and DS9.

No, the only reason they took the stance they did in these matters was because of anti-Abrams gatekeeping and bigotry.

The episode they came out as non-binary in aired in December in episode 8. People started making edits to their page before then because of interviews saying the character was non-binary.

Once the episode actually aired M-A made the changes to refer to Adira as non-binary

It had nothing to do with bigotry

Except I just linked proof that as of January 8 2021, the day after Disco's S3 finale aired, MA was still refusing to acknowledge Adira as non-binary.

Sam is a Kasqian, who are a sentient photonic species, hardly a first for Star Trek ("The Lights of Zetar" and the aliens from "Bride of Chaotica", to name a few). She is the first member of her species to attend the Academy. Not a holographic computer program that gained sentience, a legitimate sentient being.
I hope they'll have her show her true form once in awhile instead of just leaving her as a human.
