Don't get me wrong, Zoe is hot, but shouldn't McCoy be in there?

This is not sixties, they have quotas to fill these days. Uhura is both a woman AND a minority, which makes her more eligible than McCoy when it comes to poster presentation.

Or the fact that she wears red and Zoe could be more easily identifiable in the role of Uhura than Simon as Scotty.

I took a closer look at Nero's pic, he does have ridges similar to TNG, but not exactly the same about the ear, who knows maybe he cut it off so he could blend in with humans I dont know

That's indeed more probable. However, we haven't seen scottified Simon yet, so we can't see whether he's recognizable or not. I wonder whether he got black hair for the movie.

You know, people with mutilated ears don't exactly blend in...
I guess it is just a battle wound or something.

Above is a link that talks about an earlier pic of Quinto as Spock. A response says that the pic is a Photoshop because Quinto's earlobes are attached and that for the film they gave him lobes to match Nimoy's. The new poster shows Quinto's attached lobes. Does this give the earlier pic validity?

Cool. I notice that Pine is wearing dark contact lenses.

I wondered if they'd go to those lengths. But Quinto's prosthetic earlobes are still my favorite little tidbit of overwrought attention to canon. Can't have Spock without those danglin' lobes!

So much for the "it doesn't matter what the actors look like" nonsense we used to hear around these parts. Of course it matters. I just had no idea how much it would matter to Abrams & co.

eh? I don't think you will you find anyone who suggested Spock would not have his iconic ears - so that iis a bit of a straw man.

Making sure that the boots matched the original would be overwrought attention to canon - Spock's ears? no.

I guess this was addressed to some degree.

maybe, if Nero's from the 24C, post NEM as it's claimed, he's a Dominion War vet and lost his ear-tip to a Jem'hadar's Kar'takin...

And he succeeds in his goal (before being undone again) and when he returns to the 24th century he finds the Alpha/Beta Quadrant powers, including his precious Romulan Star Empire conquered by the Dominion.

Now there would be a twist.

I see the ridge, too, right near his long eyebrow. If he's Klingon, I would guess he's also part human or vulcanoid. There are no ridges on his nose, which Klingons have had since "the incident of which we do not speak with outsiders." The scarring could be from being burned, which could be as a result of torture or perhaps some explosion on a ship/planet/station say from an attack by the human James T. Kirk, the quintessential devil in these matters!
