You argue this like it's some real life thing. I suggest you reflect on the fact that this is make believe and is supposed to be post-Cage and pre-TOS, and pretend that it makes sense from a continuity standpoint.
All Star Trek is fiction, and it all matters equally. The use of gold strips and epaulettes on that uniform is definitely a similarity to the Discovery uniforms, but it isn't enough to make it the same uniform in my eyes or, for what it's worth, Memory Alpha's.

Altogether different from believing that this "metaphor" crap is still worthy of respect and attention, or that offering up such a tired excuse for timidity is observant.
Anyway, it's good to see that in all the early publicity the regular cast is pretty much alien-lite: you got Sarek as recurring, and then the one who's being masterfully presented as a smoke detector with legs.
Oh, and the nazis/terrorists/whatevers that are being used as bad guys to drive the phaser-shooting part of the plot - Klingons again, right?
