We've gone round and round with this one on the board. The repeated consensus from the people I'd consider most worth listening to (the ones who are willing to sacrifice arguing purely for what they *want* in order to reach truth) is that while we'd pretty much all watch an alien captain *and* enjoy it immensely if it was done well, we, the hardcore fandom, are a tiny, tiny portion of a larger viewing audience that the shows need to be successful and profitable. And that larger, more general audience would be :ahem: alienated if the main character isn't human.Hair aside, I'd rather he'd been a new alien, one they could develop over time. Also, it would have been a first for Trek captain as a main character.

Exactly. This was a missed opportunity given the captain isn't the main focus. The main character is a human, regardless if the Captain was/wasn't. Sonequa Martin-Green's Officer Michael Burnham is the main character. And she's been confirmed as human.
Did I miss anything?
Gabriel Garcia(pronounced Garth-ia and probably a name used by his mates) Lorca basically confirmed(I suspect they might reveal Izzar and middle name gradually). After looking at his description, I wonder if they nickname him "madman" for his elaborate but often unorthodox/risky decisions in battle.
What, no founders or Blue Gills? We got to tie it together somehow!Possibilities for Lorca:
Did I miss anything?
- He's really human.
- He's really Arne Darvin.
- He's really the Salt Vampire, biding his time for McCoy.
- He's really Martia, and he'll end up arrested and sent to Rura Penthe in the premiere.
- He's really the Evil Lorca who killed the Good Lorca following their split from a transporter accident.
- He's not really there, the Talosians are projecting him into the minds of the crew.

The nope thing is lame. Nice try though.View attachment 2595
...but someone does get bored with Trek stuff that's lame.
You know what would have been something that I "didn't want?" Lorca being an alien...and he's not. So, Yay CBS,![]()
Clumsily, and in an embarrassingly trite and evasive manner. See: "The Outcast" and that DS9 thing about Dad and her ex, among too many examples.
This stuff was clever...in 1966.
I can't tell if you're being serious or not.
I'm bad at this.
I think it's too much a coinsidence to be just a coinsidence.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... yes.Does this mean the EW issue might contain more new images?

Memory Alpha refers to that as a "Dress Jacket." It appears to have a v-neck, not a zipper.HOLD THE PRESSES! Go to 0:04:
The Starfleet guy watching Vena dance. I believe he is wearing a casual unzipped Discovery-era uniform (different color, but otherwise touche).
