While not unexpected, and perhaps one could argue with the license fee that it's quite fair, it still sucks not being able to play these in the US.

Sigh. I can see my arguments are falling on deaf ears.
If you want to be elitist, fine. It's your choice.
The BBC is going to be out of business in a few years anyway
I think I'm finished on this BBS for awhile. This is the third time I've gotten pissed on for posting a thread in the last few days,
Remember even though we are fans of the show and buy books, DVDs, and other merchandise as far as the BBC and the show's production staff are concerned only the license paying UK fans count not us. I remember reading somewhere during a Q&A after a screening of "The Eleventh Hour" in Canada Moffat was asked what he thought about their opinions and he pretty much told them he didn't care because the show is made for the UK audience not them. This isn't anything new though as shows with a worldwide fanbase usually only cater to the fans in there country of origin.
So if you've downloaded and played the game, would you have still done so if you had to pay for it outright? I'm just trying to gauge whether or not the game itself is good enough to directly pay for...
As a single episode, probably not, unless they go for iTunes level prices of say $2 per episode. However, as we're getting four episodes this year, I'd say they will wait and make the price apply to a download of all four. That'll give you 4-5 hours of gameplay.
I'm surprised at all the non Brits moaning about having to pay for this, after all the times Yanks have told me about free legal episodes of stuff on the internet only to find I can't get them over here I think this is quite justified.
Can we just rejoin the Empire for a bit, then revolt again after we've gotten all the free stuff we want?Agreed, a lot of material is location sensitive, it just so happens that for once it affects people in the US.I'm surprised at all the non Brits moaning about having to pay for this, after all the times Yanks have told me about free legal episodes of stuff on the internet only to find I can't get them over here I think this is quite justified.
Sigh. I can see my arguments are falling on deaf ears. Fine. Fuck the games. They aren't important.
I'll end my contributions to the Doctor Who board by posting this link to the Doctor Who Information Network blog - this is the big Canadian fan club - which covers my arguments and those of others a lot better than I evidently have,

"I've had enough of this crap" is the key phrase. If you want to be elitist, fine. It's your choice. The BBC is going to be out of business in a few years anyway and Syfy or Channel 5 or something will pick up production of Doctor Who and we won't have to be clusterfracking over this all time. I honestly hope it happens sooner or later. The BBC needs to join the 21st century, badly. As do, evidently, certain individuals on this board.

Do they even have Intel Core Duo Macs over there
In the end, we US'ers won't be paying any more or less than the UK fans, when you balance it against the license fee.
Erm, so is the game any good lol

I wish I could tell you. The checker complains that my processor is too slow (and that's a load of rubbish), then won't install because I'm not connected to the net (also rubbish).

Just finished, runs very slow for me in places, especially the cut scenes, where you have to wait for the animation to catch up to the dialogue a lot. Also ran into a bug with a save file that crashed the game and while playing as Amy she got stuck on a bit of debris that meant I had to restart from a previous save. But otherwise, an enjoyable game. Worth the price of a cornetto I'd say.
