First Contact Remastered , what changes could be made ?

If First Contact could be remastered. What changes could be made ?
I'm for lenghthening the Battle Sequence between the fleet at the start of the movie. A few more shots of teh ships in battle versus the Borg including much more footage of the Defiant fighting the Borg Ship. The Bridge set of the defiant could be rebuilt, Micheal Dorn and the extras could be brought back and the Defiant would become a scene stealer ! Make it heavy battle with the Enterprise-E getting in more Phaser and Torpedo firings and with the Klingon theme pulled from the close ups with Worf on the Bridge of the Defiant and replaced with a blending in of the Deep Space Nine theme it would be a whole new reason to but or rent the DVD.
what would really have made First Contact interesting at the movies back in 1996 would be if it had bene 2 Borg Cube ships attacking Earth. it would have blown minds at that !

I would only lengthen the initial battle. It was too cool to be as short as it was.

In general, I don't think it needs tinkering...but I sure wouldn't mind seeing them correct the scale of the Defiant vs. the Enterprise.

I was never comfortable with the Enterprise "rescuing" the Defiant.

If it was remastered, I'd like to see that altered.

Perhaps an extended ending, where an inspired Lily Sloane is teaching warp physics in a two-room school in San Fransisco...

- I wouldn't mind a longer scene for the Battle Of Sector 001. It just seemed a little too easy to defeat the Borg.

- "Ooby Dooby" should be replaced with something else too.

- Troi's "drunk" scene should be cut.


And that's all.

That's the only scene of worth that she gets.

Getting rid of that scene reduces Troi to a background detail, which is about as much as she deserves.

Agreed. The big Borg battle we've been waiting 7 years to see over within seconds. Very disappointing.

I love that scene. Dark movies do need some comedy in them.

No changes. The effects stand up just fine, and there's no reason to cut any material of the actors or to change any of the music. I suppose you could extend the borg battle in the beginning, but then you'd have to get Joel Goldsmith (or someone else) to come in to tinker with the music, and I don't know how I'd feel about that.

A simple add to the Borg Battle...

A graphic on the screen that reads something like '72 hours later' (or shorter) as we cut to the borg cube aproaching the Earth and being hit by the Photon Spread as the omnious music cues up.

For me it would wipe away the /very/ all too quick way the Enterprise-E arrived from the far reaches of the Romulan Nuetral Zone. I think it would actually add a heroic epic struggle 'feel' to the fleet having buzzed around the Borg Cube like desperate flies trying to stop them as they battled all the way from the Typhon Sector to Earth Orbit.... Give it a nice naval battle feel.

For me it would add a little depth and deepen the impact of commitment the Starfleet crews displayed, making the E's arrival all the more timely to rescue the 'Tough Little Ship' before it plows into the cube.

Oh and a bit of lengthening the battle would be cool too

If they do remaster it, chances are they'll remove the Millennnium Falcon from that battle scene with the Defiant and a Borg cube.

I'd probably want the scale difference between the Defiant and the Enterprise lessened, and I'd want Picard to say that the Enterprise has 26 decks as the security officer later does in the film, rather than saying that there are 24.

-Longer battle.

-Correction of number of decks.

-Correction of the sparks in the dish fight.

-Adding the nx-01 to Picard display. :

-Maybe adding some shots of the Vulcan ship entering the solar system during the phoenix flight/chase sequence.

-Extended ending. The enterprise exits the temporal anomaly in the 24th century and sails away as the moon is seen in the distance with cities lite up on it's dark side.

a) First Contact has already been remastered.

b) The process of remastering has nothing to do with actually changing the movie.

You can remaster a movie without changing it, and you can change or re-edit a movie without remastering it. So, I don't quite understand your question!

Get rid of the stupid Moe Howard haircuts on the Vulcans, espeicially on the female.

A longer Borg battle at the start, more focus on the supporting ships but making sure Defiant is seen in the background and doing much better than the other ships, dodging being hit and acting like a fighter and when it gets hit its obvious its taking more than the others.

Thats the only thing, battle restored to what was intended
