Finally started watching "Lost".

This is one of those shows I had absolutely no interest what so ever in watching this show.
Last week I discovered that Netflix had seasons 1-5 on instant streaming so I figured so I figured what the heck I'd give it a try.
I have to say after watching the pilot episode I was hooked. :techman:

After a week or so I'm at the tail end of season 3, I just can't stop watching

I like the way the show jumps back and forth giving the tidbits of each character's story even though I think they are sometime really reaching to tie the off island stories together with the various characters, Jack's dad really get around .

I also noticed very quickly the writers don't mind bumping the various characters off either, man the bodies are really stacking up!!

All in all I'm really enjoying the show so far, I can't say I've watched a bad episode yet.
Sure some of them are fluff that doesn't really advance the story much but that is to be expected in a show like this.

I'm on vacation this week so I'll have up to season five watched by the end of it.
I understand the final season is hitting DVD soon so that will be pretty good timing.

So any other Lost fans?
Silly question, I know. lol

Getting near the end of season 3, eh?

...hold onto your hat, you're about to see what in my opinion is the greatest season finale of all time. Let us know what you think!

The final season actually begins airing in February, it won't be on DVD for awhile but you should watch the show when it airs since it sounds like you'll be caught up. I'm sure watching the series finale live will be a really awesome experience.

Big fan here! It's had it's problems but it's definitely been one of the better shows of the past decade. The general consensus is that the shortening of seasons 4 and 5 helped tighten up the storylines that sometimes dragged in the first 3, but I'm not sure how that will translate on DVD in quick succession rather than spread out with a whole week or more in between.

I understand the final season is hitting DVD soon so that will be pretty good timing.
Not quite, season 6 (the last one) starts airing February next year. Season 5 only just came out on DVD in Region 1. So you might want to spread the remaining episodes out. ;)

While some didn't like the flashbacks, I did because it was the logical way of giving us the backstory for these characters and that was vital for the series. The problem was that they used up most of the interesting ones in the first season and in seasons 2&3 a lot of the flashbacks were really lazy attempts to be relevant to the plot taking place on the island. Luckily, from season 4 on they found a way of keeping the flashback style but kept it fresh with interesting twists. This allowed the plot to move forward on multiple fronts, so you no longer had to dread the whirring sound that indicated the plot was going to stop for five minutes. I think that season 4 found the best balance, while season 5 leaned a little too heavily in the plot-over-character direction.

All in all I'm really enjoying the show so far, I can't say I've watched a bad episode yet.
So you've followed the advice of others on the internet and have been skipping the Kate episodes? ;)

Not quite, the final season will begin airing some time in February, so you get to feel what it's like to have to wait a week between all the cliffhangers like the rest of us have been doing for 5 years. :p

Oh really? Well that kinda sucks. :(

I think a few reasons I am enjoying it so much is the fact it is commercial and I can watch them marathon fashion.

I'll prolly have to DVR them then and watch several at a time.

I think the show works much better in marathon viewings, personally. Storylines that seemed interminably long on weekly TV, stretched even further by ludicrous hiatus scheduling, flow much better on DVD.

Oh yeah there are lots of Lost fans around here. When the show starts up again (FINAL SEASON!!!! :() we'll come out of the woodwork.

I need to pick up Season 5. I attempted to watch it online, but I just don't enjoy that format, so I only watched the first few episodes.

I thought most of season 2 was a waste of my time, so if you liked the show so far just wait for season 4, it's really good, and season 5 is a mind fuck.

The show get's better in seasons 4 and 5 because they had an end point, season 6. I don't think it really has anything to do with how many episodes in a season.

I didn't realize Season 2 was a waste of time until I watched it for a second time and realized almost every character they introduced that season was dead.

Bingo.

We already figured the tailies were alive somewhere else on the island, they introduced them, you just started to like them and then EVERY ONE of them were killed off and never talked about again. OK they were brought up again, but still.

Well, at least Bernard pulled through. :p

Oh, and technically that one flight attendant is still alive, even if she does hang her hat with the Others now.

Personally, though, I found that season 2 and 3 worked much better on DVD. I didn't like them all that much on TV, but they seemed much more exciting and interesting when I could watch everything in close succession. S1, 4, and 5 are still my favourites, though.

Let's all sing the Lost theme song, altogether now!

" ......"

Uh, **weird, somewhat melodic sounds**?

I never did learn the lyrics.

I still don't own season 2 because of that! I also don't like the box art very much.:rommie:

I never found them that hard to remember.

I'm about midway through season 4 now and I have to say it is not nearly as entertaining as seasons 1-3.

I've got no issues with the flash back stories but the flash forward ones are just too confusing.

Not really caring for splitting the cast up as well.

This guy was a bad guy but now he is a good guy but he's not really a good guy because he is just pretending to be a good gut but he may not really be a bad guy he is just pretending to be a bad guy...UUGGHH!!! :wtf:
