Kind of weird that the last show ends with all of the lights going out...

I had wondered if SyFy might be classy enough to post some sort of brief message at the end saying goodbye or something about it being the end of an era to the Stargate fans who pretty much made the channel...of course not.

I am sorta sad to see Stargate Universe finally gone. I think it deserved more air time considering how much was given to Atlantis. I think SGU in retrospect was a lot better written than Atlantis.

I am glad to see Eli creating his own path with Rush realizing he's not the know it all that he thought he was, lol.

I know announcement of the show cancellation occured a while ago but does anybody know of any links to interviews with the cast and crew about the cancellation? Any crew share their ideas on how Season 3 would have been?

I'm rendered somewhat speechless. That may have just been the best ep of SGU ever.
Honestly, it felt really weak. Not as bad as some of the season 1 episodes, but the story wasn't really there. There were some pretty good moments, but the stuff connecting them wasn't really interesting or well done. Plus the lackluster writing means that scenes like Young's family speech lack weight because they've never really acted like a family (perhaps a severely dysfunctional one at best).

Plus I think the end would've had more substance to it if Rush had been the one to stay, as it would not only show that he's progressed from the utterly Machiavellian guy in season 1, but resolve the Young/Rush conflict once and for all and provide a nice passing of the torch to Eli.

i did not care for the ending, to predictable that someone would have been left behind.

I'll post more here in the next day or so, after I've had a chance to watch it again.

For now, I'll say it's been a pleasure watching Stargate, in all three forms, and posting with you guys. Maybe someday, we'll get a proper end to this one, in the form of a DVD or one-shot TV movie.

All chevrons locked!

:techman:

Wow.

I'm rendered somewhat speechless. That may have just been the best ep of SGU ever.

Ain't THAT the truth!

To those who have taken us all along on this ride: THANK YOU for the places we've seen and the stories you've told us. And those SGU effects.......priceless. I am so sorry to have it end, especially like this.

Syfy: until you give us an ending, your logo won't be seen in this house again. You are classless!

That was a great episode and not all that bad of a way to go out. SGU was the first Stargate I have watched on TV. I got into the rest on DVD a few years ago and got hooked. As said above it is going to soon. An end of an era for sure.

After how weak Sanctuary has been the past 3 episodes, I no longer have a reason to watch SyFy, at all.

This was a great episode, I will really miss the show. I hope that TPTB come up with some sort of officially canon resolution, whether that be a DVD film, comic book, novel, I don't care; this story needs to be told.

Im not sure I get the end. Did Eli volunteer to die? Or were they implying that he was gonna figure out a way to stay alive for 3-1000 years? Can someone explain that to me?

10 Chevrons – Out of this Universe man, out of this friggin universe

I shed a tear at the end, not ashamed to admit, I got teared eyed..... yeah, just yeah, I really feel for these characters now, and now we won't get a resolution :(

What a great season ender, I really want to see what happens next.....

The whole episode was great, the ending was as beautiful as it gets.... Incredible, SGU has a lot to be proud for, they did a good job in the end

He has 2 weeks to try and repair the stasis pod. He said there were 1700 pages on the systems in the database, so he is going to take his chances (being the smartest one there) at being able to repair the pod within 2 weeks. 2 weeks is the deadline because after that, the life support keeping him alive on the ship will start to cut into the power reserves and jeopardize their chances at making it to the next galaxy, so he's got 2 weeks to fix the thing, else die.

I imagine the third season premiere would've been the obligatory off-format, Eli-is-alone-on-the-ship-and-starts-hallucinating-so-he-has-someone-to-talk-to-because-this-isn't-a-Chaplin-movie episode.

I wonder if they would've done anything exciting with the jump to 2014. Have disclosure happen in the meantime? Earth conquered by ant people from beyond the moon?

"See you on the other side" ...brother.

Hmmm, that line sounds familiar.

Great episode nevertheless. Piss on SyFy.

The would somehow discover the Earth was destroyed in 2012.

The jump in three years would have certainly been an interesting aspect to explore, story potential, so sad we won't get to see that now :(

ok, yep that makes sense. I kept thinking that there must be some bigger message thing implied because it was the last episode. Tanks

They certainly wouldn't have been able to do that with another SG series on the air. Mallozzi mentioned in his blog today he expected Atlantis to be renewed for a sixth season so it could synergize with SGU. I guess when it didn't happen that way, it opened them up to be a bit more daring.

Honestly other than the Eli cliffhanger I think it would have been an awesome finale to just end the show with the entire cast in stasis and heading to another galaxy.

and that's all she wrote...

had the show continued it would have been interesting to see what would happen when they got the new galaxy... Would be pretty neat if we found out that there was some kind of engine mishap and it took them longer to get there and by the time they dropped out of FTL they were greeted by new-gen Earth spaceships.

Well, there goes *another* shuttle!

I wonder if SG:U had gone on, if this one would have been magically replaced too? Probably *not* - which would have left them with only one shuttle again...but who knows...?
