A woman must be down right terrified if she want's to walk around with one of those things on
What is up with this?
Do you chicks really live in this much fear of rape?
Why do you fear rape more than I fear murder?
GOD DAMMIT! .0001% of you will be raped. I wish my murder odds were so low.
Get over stupid FOXNEWS fear and live your fucking life.
Sigh...It took a hundred posts to draw me into this.
Let me tell you about somebody's personal experience with your .0001%. This girl was growing up in a good neighborhood of a large city in the 1960s.
- At age six she was exposed to a flasher
- At age seven she was accosted by...well, I suppose he was a flasher, too. He wanted to masturbate while looking at her.
- At age eleven the same thing happened again.
- At age twelve was her first attempted rape. She kept her head and escaped due to his momentary inattention.
- A few weeks later somebody tried the same to her older sister.
- At age sixteen was her second attempted rape. This time she did him an injury.
All of this happened within six blocks of her house. She didn't know any of the men involved. No, she's never been raped, but one might understand her fear.
Whatever you guys want to believe. Go right ahead and believe it. Just know that you wouldn't use such words at the dinner table with your grand parents present. Some things just shouldn't be said (in such detail) in front of others.
Wrong. Such things need to be said in graphic and ugly detail. Some things need to instill outrage or they're watered down to simply being 'distasteful'. No, they're horrid offenses against other human beings and if all you can care about is your comfort zone with the words chosen, I'd hazard that your priorities are skewed.
Now, as for the device itself. Yeah, I'm sure that it could be misused. Since there are statistics being bandied about, what do you suppose the statistics are for misuse? Are they any greater or worse than those of other self-defense instruments? The person I described above once escaped by smashing her knee into the crotch of the one threatening her. Could her knee have been misused? The fact that something can be misused isn't a reason to ban something that could be useful in genuine need.
And, while I'm not equipped to know, doesn't a sharp pain to the penis usually have one simple response? An instinctive pulling away from the hurt (a desired response) and both hands automatically going to protect that area (another desired response). From what little I know, this would be the case with most men, assuming that he's not hopped up on drugs, which would give the woman a chance to get away. If this thing is supposed to prevent the man from walking, my mental picture is of him curled up on the pavement, not chasing her down.
Just my two cents...
