I sent a fortnight on Islay once, I don't recall seeing them there, either. I'll keep an eye out next time I'm north of the border, though.

Here in Scotland, kilts are usually only worn at weddings and ceremonies. It is rare (but not impossible) to see them worn as everyday clothes. That applies to the cities, highlands, towns and islands.
